Re: The Kingdom
The last place I would base my opinions on anything is from watching a movie, especially anything related to the war. It supposedly has a moral equivalency message to it, but I plan on just taking it in for what it is, a Hollywood movie.Comment

Re: The Kingdom
have you seen the movie yet? They do a timeline during the opening credits that makes you think. Most of the stuff I knew, but it was still interesting. The Sports Preacher

Re: The Kingdom
The timeline in the beginning was interesting, some people already know about it but a lot more don't and it's interesting to see how what happened then relates to what is happening now.Comment

Re: The Kingdom
Does the FBI actually handle stuff like this?
It's the one thing that keeps me away from this film. I could be wrong but I've never heard of the FBI doing anything like this movie suggets."It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. And that those who receive and act out the gift of athletic genius must, perforce, be blind and dumb about it -- and not because blindness and dumbness are the price of the gift, but because they are its essence." - David Foster Wallace

Re: The Kingdom
One of their divisions is international counter terrorism. And I believe Americans were killed in the attacks (in the movie, though I haven't seen it yet so I may be wrong) which would give the US jurisdiction.Comment

Re: The Kingdom
Ever since Vietnam, our country has been pretty skeptical regarding any conflict overseas without a real defined enemy where the reasons for fighting them aren't clear.
Anyways, I think this movie looks pretty interesting. It can't be any worse than Jarhead.Comment

Re: The Kingdom
Just got back... just a chilling movie. The Tim McGraw character was great... in the two Berg movies, he's really stepped up for what little screen time he's had.
Last line of the movie was very cinematic, but very scary, because I have to think it's true.http://flotn.blogspot.com

Re: The Kingdom
Saw this movie tonight. Thought it was pretty good till the last scene.
SpoilerI'm all for action and the last scene was very thrilling but four of them taking out 60+ strategically well place terrorists with AK47s and RPGs... I don't know. Not to mention they were on roof tops and had high ground from several buildings. Balcony's as well. Now if they were Marines I wouldn't be complaining. This would be no problem.
Plus the scenes with that girl seemed bad. The way she held that gun and moved through the hallways clearing rooms seemed really unnatural. Then all of a sudden she clears that one room out Rambo style.Last edited by Altimus; 01-08-2008, 05:36 AM.Comment

Re: The Kingdom
SpoilerI didn't have a problem with that as much as her sticking around to give a little girl candy. Once they rescued their pal, you would think they would to extract ASAP out of that nest of terrorists. I'm sure Bateman's character was really happy that they were going to get him to safety and medical attention after this girl gets her candy. The setup to the ending felt contrived.Comment

Re: The Kingdom
I've since watched this again on HD DVD and I have to say I liked it better the second time. I really enjoyed it for what it is. I've never been one to question little things in movies (She's not holding the gun right, They shouldn't be there, etc) so I just kind of overlook those things and I can always form some rationalization in my head as to why something happened.
The highway scene and the last 30 minutes are great fun on a HDTV and surround soundPS4: aBayBates
