The highway scene and the last 30 minutes are great fun on a HDTV and surround sound
Agree 100%. I had a good time with it, and it looked great on HD-DVD, sounded awesome as well.

I looked at it as a more realistic, but still a popcorn flick.

I saw it on DVD again recently, and I enjoyed it. Like EG says, it's more than just a popcorn flick, but the action makes it good.

Basically, I'm a big fan of Peter Berg.

I just saw this on DVD tonight and really liked it. The ending was very cynical as others have said but it's better than traditional Hollywood where the endings are usually unusually optimistic.

                  Re: The Kingdom

This movie was much better than I thought it would be. Although it did have a lot of violence and over the top action sequences, IMO it was a character driven film. I was more interested, for example, in observing the Muslim police officers, as they struggled to balance their religious believes and their secular responsibilities, then I was in seeing Uzi battles in residential districts.

Do the same thing tomorrow. And the next. Now do it forever.

The end of this movie reminded me a bit of a scene in 'Clear and Present Danger'. If you haven't seen it, you should.

I really liked this movie, very entertaining.
