I like his character, but somehow, I think Doakes will be fired with not showing up at that dinner meeting being the latest incident, killed by Dexter, or tied up some other way.

Notice how Lundy singled out four cases Dexter and Doakes were on?

Yeah, Doakes might have just put himself in a precarious situation. He's another loner without people to provide an alibi for him if he's investigated, and on top of that he's had a light trigger finger.

Interesting to see if Dex will go as far as killing Doakes to protect his identity.

I might have missed something. Why does he save his victim's blood samples? Might just be part of his compulsive nature.

This show may have gone too far too soon. Having Dexter being suspected as a serial killer is something that should have been saved for the last season they do, not the 2nd season. Now Doakes knows and it's apparent that some other important character will find out about the real Dexter. It just takes away from the mysteriousness of Dexter if Rita or Deb find out that he enjoys killing which is apparent the way this season is turning out. I just can't see any future seasons being nearly as intense once this season concludes because they already used up the best storyline by year 2. They've used up the serial killer brother storyline and now the danger that he's discovered by the police. I can't imagine what could be better than that for next season. I know the 1st season followed the book but I think they deviated too much for the 2nd season. Still a great, great show and came at the right time now that the Sopranos is over.

If Deb or Rita found out about real Dex, there would be no 3rd season, so I doubt that's an option. Will Dex somehow be able to pin the murders on Doakes?-now that would make for an interesting Season 3.

Doakes is going to end up taking the fall for it, or at the very least taking the heat off of Dexter. It is obvious that whatever the preview suggested will not be how it goes down.

Not to mention, even if they wanted to go after Dex, the slides that Doakes discovered won't even be admissable since he obtained them by illegal means. Other than that, they have no evidence at all tying Dexter to the crimes. This will just make for one more big tense thing that ends up being yet another near miss.

I love how the show does this, though. It makes me nervous as all hell watching it, like I am actually wondering how Dex will worm his way out of each situation and rooting for him to do so.

I sure hope he puts Lila on ice soon, though. I cannot stand that broad.

Me either. As beautiful as she is her appearances with Dex(great scene with Dex, Deb, and her though) are the slower parts of the show. It will all be worth it when Dex chops her up. GO DEXTER!!

I missed this entirely but my friend pointed out a great observation to me, Doakes now has his prints all over Dexters box of blood samples, whenever Dexter touches the box he has gloves on.

I didn't even think of that but that was a great observation on his part.
