    Re: Radiohead - In Rainbows

bumpage....I had an e-mail waiting this morning with my download link. Things ran amazingly fast, it only took about 2 minutes to download the ZIP file. Some people will be pissed that is is only 160kbps, but that's not a big issue for me.

Pretty good so far, a mix of some of their recent albums sounds, I wouldn't say it immediately sounds like any of their previous albums in general. The studio version of Nude is great!

This album is getting insane reviews and it doesn't disappoint.

Who's reviewing this the day it came out? I'm 99% sure they didn't send out an promo copies either.

But yes, it is very good. Hail To The Theif was too big, they didn't risk that here with a lean 10 tracks coming in at just over 40 minutes. Not a weak track out of the 10. Time will tell how well it stands up to the rest of their work, but it is starting off pretty well!

A lot of sites, mostly British. Rolling Stone gave the album 4 and a half stars. Rolling Stone also gave Bruce's new album 5 stars. While I also love Bruce, there's no way that Magic is a better CD than In Rainbows. This is the best CD of the year.

I can't even get onto their website right now.

Edit: I got through and am listening now.

Bruce and Radiohead are two different musical styles. There is no way you can compare the two CD's side by side.

That's interesting, I didn't mean to sound doubtful, I was just really curious as to who was posting reviews of an album the day they heard it.

I think it's a good album. The first three tracks all provide such different sounds, it is a great start. Bodysnatchers is the most OK Computer-like song they've done since....well, Ok Computer, very guitar driven but also has the slight electronic feel to it, unlike the straight guitar songs on HTTT. Nude is great, I was worried something would be lost in the transition into the studio for the song, but they only added to it subtlely and it works great. Weird Fishes is also pretty good, it sounds like one of the moodier Kid A tracks but with a bit more of a groove added. All I Need through House of Cards are all in the same vein I think, more moody songs typical Yorke oooohhhing and ahhhing(or whining if you prefer). Jigsaw is probably my favorite track, very good drumbeat and baseline, it's impossible not to tap your toes while listening to it. Videotape is a good final track, alogn the lines of Motion Picture Soundtrack, but better. It reminds me more of Pyramid Song or Sail to the Moon.

Good album, at this point I would put it right along side The Bends and Anmesiac in their second teir of albums(behind OKC and Kid A). Although I appriciated the straight up guitars HTTT had, I think that time has passed for the band and it is good to see them going down their previous line rather than trying to bring back the guitars. Probably a 4 out of 5 for me right now.

This album is really, really good. I think "Nude," "Weird Fishes/Arpeggi," and "All I Need" are my favorites.

The album is really growing on me. House of Cards, All I Need, Faust Arp and Jigsaw really stand out. It's a very solid album; maybe not as ambitious as previous albums, but solid, nonetheless.

Yeah I think the album is great. Hail to the Thief might be the most underrated Radiohead album though. People talk about In Rainbows like Radiohead hasn't done anything since Kid A. This might be my favorite Radiohead song.

I think Hail To The Theif had a handful of really good songs, Sail To the Moon, Where I End and You Begin, There There, Myxamitosis and a couple of others, but overall it was a bit too long and draggy to be among their best albums. It is definitely a very good album, but at this point I prefer anything besides Palbo Honey.

Which means they'll jack up the prices for their world tour. Either way, radiohead wins.

they simply wanted to be the ones who leaked their own album, and maybe profit off it (all albums are leaked anyway). This might be a top 2 album of theirs when time passes and the songs sink in for me (surpassing kid a or computer). but these three songs are simply incredible and ones i can't listen to enough at the moment.
