Don't give up hope Dee. There's a good chance that they'll announce more dates (fingers crossed for Cleveland).Comment

Re: Alice in Chains Acoustic Tour
Jerry Cantrell's Degradiation Trip double CD was Alice in Chains minus Layne.
As for renaming the band because of Layne being dead. I don't think that's needed.
Layne was a voice, but not the music behind the band. That's Jerry. Most of the lyrics are Jerry as well. The self titled Alice in Chains CD was Jerry. Layne only did lyrics for 2 songs. Jerry had the entire CD recorded and Layne came in and sang the lyrics. I'm not dogging on Layne since I really wish that he was around, but Jerry Cantrell is Alice in Chains. If he had died instead of Layne, the entire sound of the band would be DTRASTICALY different where as right now it's just some pieces of Lanye's voice that's missing. William isn't Lanye, but he's a worthy successor.BeyondMediaOnline.comComment

Re: Alice in Chains Acoustic Tour
Do you mean it sounded like Alice in Chains minus Layne, or that the rest of the band (Jerry, Mike, and Sean) recorded the album? The artists who worked with Jerry on Degredation Trip were Robert Trujillo and Mike Bordin. Mike and Sean contributed to Boggy Depot.Comment

Re: Alice in Chains Acoustic Tour
O.k. I'm going to bump this thread abit,I love everything AIC put out. The acoustic CD was probably the best unplugged event I've ever heard. "Down in a hole" that song still makes me stand up and take note when I hear it.
Anyway-IF-I could only have one CD by them,I'd take the self titled one-The three legged dog on the cover. Thar CD was AIC at their peak-even moreso than Dirt(due to the dark, murky feel of the self titled one).
I'm done with my lecture going nowhere, Lol! time to go listen to "head creeps" .......BTW I agree with Zeke's comments on his last post#19ByurrulzIdon'tfollowComment

Re: Alice in Chains Acoustic Tour
I have the CD somewhere in storage. I'm in the process of moving and some stuff is still M.I.A. But,if memory serves me,wasn't that Layne and Mike McCready of Pearl Jam? they met in rehab and joined up? The one's that standout for me on that CD were "I don't know anything" and "river of deceit". I wanted Layne to put his effort into Chains rather than solo projects-Nonetheless,good stuff.
I'm surprised you put AIC's Self titled CD at the bottom of your list. That was priceless to me. I'd like to hear the general concensus of the others here for their most essential/important CD's in order by AIC.
Sorry for the thread bump again Zeke-I started a Grunge rock thread and mentioned AICLast edited by coffeeholic; 10-24-2007, 07:49 PM.ByurrulzIdon'tfollowComment

Re: Alice in Chains Acoustic Tour
Yeah you got a good point but to me the lead vocals is the heart of the band IMO. Plus, if Im not mistaken layne was the one who named the band so it seems weird to me for him to be gone and them still have that name. Jerry did write most of the songs on the self titled album but imo that was their worst album.
Dirt... (pulling out the booklet)
5 songs on the CD were entirely all by Jerry Cantrell, musically and lyrically.
Them Bones, Damn That River, Down in a Hole, Rooster, and Would. I would say that Jerry has more importance to the whole picture than Layne.
Alice in Chains... Keep the name.BeyondMediaOnline.comComment

Re: Alice in Chains Acoustic Tour
Jerry is the "Music" and "sound" behind the band. He co-writes most of the lyrics with Layne as well. Layne was the main voice, but not the only vocal. Jerry carried a lot of the songs as well vocally. I love Lanye and that's fine if he named the band, but there were 4 of them. Losing the singer sucks, but Sabbath changed singers, Van Halen changed singers, and most recently Fuel etc.

Mad Season's "Above" is a tremendous album. Besides the radio singles "River of Decit" and "I Don't Know Anything", "Long Gone Day" is a tremendous song. There was a rumor that Mad Season later recorded a double album, one with Mark Lannegan on vocals and the other with Layne, but unfortunately it was just a rumor.Comment
