Ronald is a huge jackass but he makes the show more interesting. I nearly lost it when the goth guy tried to pole vault across the water for the first time

Yeah, some of the pole vaulting was pitifully bad. What a great task.

Was it Jennifer that totally planted into the mud on the first attempt?

I remember one person almost stalled in midair, and just landed flat on their back.

If I remember correctly, that was Jennifer.

            Re: Amazing Race 12

I love it when they go to places I've never heard of before. The racers' attempts to pronounce the name was hilarious.

I love it even more when racers have absolute meltdowns when dealing with animals. As usual, Racers that were calm with their animal (a camel) quickly finished the task. Racers who threw hissy-fits, screamed, and acted more frazzled than Britney Spears on "head-shaving gate" fell behind.

The blondes were so ignorant on the train ride. You are surrounded by abject poverty and act grossed-out that the kid beside you is attracting flies. Then they talk about how they could never live like this. Well, you are lucky enough to have a choice in the matter, so maybe you could act a little grateful for what you have. I'm sure the kid loves that he can't bathe once, or even twice a day like you two. I'm sure he loves attracting flies.

The blondes were also stupid, expecting that cab driver to give them change. What did they think was going to happen? They have should have either given him exact money, or, if they didn't have the exact amount, waited until the end of the ride. Then they could have said, "We agreed to pay 3,000, so you need to give us three back." He still may have stiffed them, but at least they wouldn't have given him a chance to say, "No, quatre mil" (No, four thousand).

The location choice was excellent, especially dropping teams off in the middle of nowhere. It would have been interesting if Nathan and Jennifer had been the only ones to get on the connecting flight in Paris, but that would have put them more than 24 hours ahead, potentially eliminating more suspense from the rest of the race.

The tasks were as good as the location choice. As I said above, any task involving animals is great given the potential for "MY OX IS BROKEN! THIS IS BULL----!" moments. Lorena's breakdown wasn't as high on the unintentional comedy scale as Colin's misadventures with the ox, but it was pretty funny nonetheless.

I'm surprised people chose the "teach" task in the Detour. I would have chosen "learn" because you never know how much difficulty your assigned student will have with the words, and learning Afro-French phrases could come in handy if they don't leave this country during the next leg. At the Detour, Azaria and Hendekea showed, yet again, that they are the team to beat in this race. Splitting up the words so each person only had to memorize five was brilliant and saved a lot of time.

The five team footrace to the Pit-Stop mat was crazy. They must not have known there were still teams behind them, because I think otherwise the Goths wouldn't have run into the country's host, nearly knocking him over.

Mariana and Julia were the morons of the night. "Walk slowly. Let's not make any sudden movements or loud noises." This came second after they gave instructions to Lorena, currently in last place at the time, that allowed her to finish the Roadblock. Word of advice: When the team in last place is sprinting with their camels and passes you, it might be time to stop walking. It came as no surprise, then, that they were eliminated. The grandfather, who hilariously admitted to being attracted to them, will be dissappointed.

Funniest moment: The comparison of Lorena to The Exorcist. That's exactly what she looked like during her camel Roadblock meltdown.

The grandfather killed me last night when talking about Marianna and Julia.

The blondes really annoyed me in the episode, they're just so obnoxious. Apparently they do something to piss off Lorena and Jason next episode, should be fun to see what happens.

Why did Marianna and Julia drop their backpacks to run to the mat? They seriously have to be the slowest runners (if you can call that running) I've ever seen in my life. They were basically powerwalking to the mat, ridiculous.

and then at the end the blondes were saying how they couldn't wait to visit other places .... why? so you could have more people to make fun of? there is always some couple who just don't get how lucky they are.

Blondes use the U-turn, a nice new wrinkle, when they didn't really need to. Looks like karma is already showing its ugly head with the feud between the two and the bus next week.

TK and Rachel almost seem to relaxed, esp. TK.

I was laughing at Jennifer last night when she told the brother/sister team that they have already won some legs that they should give another team a chance to win now.

                      Re: Amazing Race 12

Another fantastic episode. I love this show.

Having two legs in Birna Faso was a smart move by the producers, given that the show has never been there before, and also given that I (as well as most of the contestants and at-home viewers, I would bet) have never heard of villages like Ouagadagou.

I started out liking Azaria and Hendekea. I like her, but I am beginning to dislike him more and more. Telling her she has "physical disabilities" because you can run faster than her? I'm pretty sure she can run faster than any other woman in the race. I'm also pretty sure, and correct me if I am wrong, that a fully grown man can usually run faster than a fully grown woman. I am also pretty sure that the team was in first place when the started the leg, in first place when they bagged their chicken, in first place after the roadblock, and in first place at the end of the leg. In fact, they have led most of the entire leg. But this ******* is always complaining that his sister is too slow and can't keep up with him. Yes, we get it. You are the superior human being and your sister can do no right. It doesn't matter that she was better than you during last week's memorization detour. It doesn't matter that she flew through the market roadblock. All that matters is that she can't run as fast as you, so that gives her "physical disabilities." Again, I like her, but I don't like him.

Which isn't too say he is 100% to blame. I would have been equally annoyed if my partner told me she had to go to the bathroom not one-hour into the leg. You mean to tell me you couldn't have found some time to go before we left? We only had a 12-hour resting period.

Rachel and TK would be my favorite team if they would quit being so "slow and steady." BJ and Tyler (the Hippie winners from season 9) were plenty carefree, but they also hustled and and didn't plod along. It's as if Rachel and TK feel no need to move quickly and are going on a leisurely stroll through the countryside. When they got to the dancing detour they waited for the other teams to perform, then decided to switch at the last second. While all the other teams were performing they could have been learning the dance and practicing. After performing for the judges, if they failed to impress them, they would be penalized ten minutes. Well, that would have been the smart thing to do. Risk the ten-minute penalty. Instead, they wasted those ten minutes just traveling to the other task, then proceed to waste more time digging around the edges of the pit. If there is no gold around the edges, why not try the center? Isn't that a little too obvious? In fact, they lost so much time at the detour that the sisters beat them to the U-Turn. I like Rachel and TK because they are mutually supportive and don't fight, but this is a race for $1,000,000, not some walk in the park. Start hustling, start winning or almost winning legs, and you two may have a chance to take home the cash.

The blondes continue to annoy me. I hate their ignorance and bad attitude towards Africa. They also come off as complete morons. First, they "decide" to use the U-Turn on Lorena and Jason. The reason? They are "right behind them." Except that isn't Lorena and Jason, you *******es, it's Rachel and TK. Not only do they not look alike, but the blondes have had three 12 hour pit-stops and a night spent in a hotel in Ireland to "mingle" with the other teams. You're telling me that you can't tell the teams apart by now? And not only that, but the blondes fail to realize their mistake. It should have been obvious when the team behind them, Rachel and TK, followed them to the taxis as opposed to turning around and heading back to complete the other detour. It should have been even more obvious when Rachel and TK passed them in their taxi. But Shana and Jennifer have the "dumb-blonde" stereotype down pat.

Not to mention Jennifer (of Shana and) is the most worthless teammate ever. She disagrees with Shana's decision to use the U-Turn, but she only says to the camera, well after the fact. "I'm worried that we'll have a target on our back." Well, WHY THE HELL DIDN'T YOU SAY THAT? When your teammate says "we're using the U-Turn," don't just say, "Oh, we are? Ok." It's not like you couldn't have taken 10 seconds to discuss things. Then you whine to TK that you never wanted to do it. Next time speak up or shut up. No one wants to hear you whine.

Speaking of ignorance, you won't find it anywhere near the Goths. They were humbled by the African experience and brought to tears. You watching this blondes? That's how you act in a foreign country.

As for the U-Turn itself, it is yet another brilliant wrinkle to the show. I'm curious, though, as to whether this has replaced the yield. I hope not, as I love it when teams get yielded and watch helplessly as the rest of the teams pass them. It's even better if a meltdown is involved.

Of the teams still left in the race, I dislike Azaria (but want to like him), the Blondes, and Nathan and Jennifer, but Jennifer more than Nathan. Asking Azaria and Hendekea to let them win? If you want to win, try beating them to the pitstop mat. Seriously. This is a race, not a fun-run. It's not their fault you can't beat them. And why are you complaining to Phil? Is he magically going to change the rules and give you first place. "Azaria and Hendekea...Jennifer makes a good point. You have won two times before this, and it is about time Nathan and Jennifer receive a prize. As a result, Nathan and Jennifer....you are team number one! Azaria and Hendekea...you are team number two!"

And the eliminated team: Jason is a douche for not wanting to marry Lorena, and they will be broken up soon. Saying an "open" relationship takes more commitment because you are not required to be with your partner is one of the stupidest things I have ever heard. Marriage is the ultimate commitment because you are committing yourself to spend the rest of your life with someone. And neither a relationship or a marriage forces you to remain faithful. Just ask Nathan.

the goths amaze me more and more with each episode. they are one of the very few teams in the history of the show that get what it's all about. sure one million is up for grabs, but seeing other cultures and being thankful for what you have is more important.

that blondes, though i hate them so, did have one classic moment. naming the chicken phill because their hair was the same was awesome.

The blondes are so obnoxiously annoying, I hope they get eliminated next.

My two favorites this season are Rachel & TK and Nicolas & Donald.

I also find it funny how Christina gets a free pass. Don't get me wrong. Ronald is a grade-A douche-bag, but Christina constantly yells at him or is very bossy. I also love the smirk she gets on her face every time Ronald talks about needing to improve. Keep that up, "Chris," and nobody will think you're any better.
