With the whole safe house. The infection is airborne, so I'm assuming everyone there is immune anyway. Made no sense why they didn't build a dome, but who knows.

I still don't get the emptying of water or whatever that was on the steps when he went in the house.

I also don't get how the infected are dumb, supposedly, but spent time and knew how to build a trap for Will Smith. I mean, they had pully's and the whole nine. I almost walked out right there when they moved "Fred" and then tried to catch him with this pully system.

EDIT - reading on IMDB, another good question poised. The day Neville gets caught in the trap, is the same day that he sees Fred outside the video store in the morning. So that means, Fred was moved in broad daylight and the trap was set. Only reason this is correct because he promises Sam that he'll say hi to that girl the next day. He kills Sam that night and goes to the video store the next day and says hi.

Like everyone said, don't think the zombies were dumb at all. I just think that Will's Character thought of them as dumb which is what we the audience were suppose to think of them as well.

They did show a tremendous amount of intellgience by setting that trap. And about the trap, i don't think Fredy moved at all. I think it was the fact that Fredy wasn't were he was suppose to be that it made Will's character imgaine the movement. We were reinforced the idea that these creatures hate light, i doubt one of them moved Fredy in the day light.

Anyone esle see Adam Sandler's new movie?? It looks stupid in a funny way. The new Narina movie looks good as well as the new Batman movie.

I don't think that was water that he was spraying out that bottle. I think it was either some kind of solution since he sprayed it on his jacket too, which was probably to clear off any of the crap that could have been on there from the "infected".

I think that these "infected" looked like they were evolving, but they evolved too quick.

I am a little baffled about them setting up a trap, I look at the "infected" as just mindless killing machines in this movie........with some hints of intelligence since in some scenes they did work together and were somewhat smart. Unless, the leader was watching Will Smith build the trap that he made with the car and just replicated his work the next day, if you notice the trap was setup exactly the same way as Will Smith's.

I didn't notice that, that happened in the same day. Then yes it doesn't make sense since the zombies/vampires don't go out in the sun light. Thats definitely a plot hole, and what makes it worst is that its quite a big one if you really look at it. I didn't remember Will seeing the dummy that same day that until you mentioned it. He did drive by the store and see two dummies outside. Very strange indeed

When a movie causes this much thought and discussion afterwards, you know that it did its job. I personally liked it, except for those little things I mentioned earlier.

For this movie, I would disagree, I like discussing it because I'm at work, and what else is there to do , plus I spent $10 on it, so I want to get my money's worth some how. I still feel it was total garabage and won't ever see it again.

The original screenwriter of I Am Legend, Mark Protosevich, pitched the idea of a sequel to Warner Bros., though a deal has not been finalized.

Hmm, I think this confirms my thoughts after I read an article about I Am Legend.

The original screenwriter, Mark Protosevich, wrote I Am Legend almost 10 years ago. The movie struggled to get any kind of funding or support. Originally, it was supposed to be an Arnold Schwarzenegger action flick. It just didn't happen.

Then Akiva Goldsman approached Warner Bros. with a new idea on the movie and wrote that screenplay.

Will Smith, since tabbed to play the starring role, told WB and Goldsman that he liked the Protosevich version better and wouldn't do it unless Goldsman found a way to weave the two together. So then that happened.

I read this article as a big WTF for Protosevich. He rarely commented on the film and still to this day doesn't say much about it. Just seems to me that he isn't happy with the end result. Actually, his comment on the movie is:

"I know there are going to be some people who hate it. There always will be. This is just this take on that source material at this time. I think people just need to relax a little bit because the book will always be there."


Does that sound like a man that is truly happy with the script? It really sounds like a guy that's trying to convince himself that it's ok because the book is always there. In some ways, Protosevich is just like anyone else on this board or other boards complaining about the movie not following the book. He isn't satisfied.

So, when you wonder why he would approach WB about a sequel just consider that maybe it's because he wants to "save" what he felt was ruined.

That's what made Will Smith excited about his script version. He realized that the movie could seperate itself from other horror-genre flicks. This one could be more than a scare fest. It involved true psychological struggle.

With that in mind, I can only give Goldsman credit for the second half and ending because from what I understand (I haven't gotten the chance to watch I am Legend) it totally seperates the viewer from everything that happened in the first half of the film.

Psychological movies win awards but don't make money, that's why they had to add the zombie/horror aspect so heavily to the movie. It sucks, but hey that's Hollywood. Let's face it, the American movie going public is basically people with ADD who just want action for the most part. They don't want a study about a man's inner conflict and psychological unraveling. That's not entertainment to most folk, that's a downer...

Personally I love movies where psychological horror is a theme. A movie like The Pianist really haunts me and makes me think. But movies like that simply do not make huge money most of the time. And that's why movies are made, for the most part, to make money.

I guess thats why we all have our opinions. I absolutely liked this movie and one of the better ones to come along in 2007 where there was a stockpile of **** movies imo.

You never answered my questions about 30 Days of Night vs. I Am Legend...........because 30 Days when compared to this movie, is horrible.

I read some of this on Wiki last night, that is crazy the rollercoaster ride that this movie has had.

I think that Will Smith played this role so well and the emotions throughout the movie made you feel bad for him. Comparing Will's emotions vs. Charlton's, its like 2 different people. Charlton to me was this no non-sense bad *** type of Robert Neville, with tiny hints of emotion........while Will had that same bad *** persona, there was also emotions.

That is why I didn't care too much about those CGI "infected" zombies or whatever you want to call them. When will first walks through the dark building, that was intense. Then when he encounters them, their just standing there worshiping or whatever they were doing and I was like holy crap, this is awesome. Then I see these CGI looking creatures and killed some of the psychological suspense for me from their stand point, but not the mental/psychological issues that Smith was going through.

I thought he was pouring out ammonia so the dark walkers would lose his scent and thus not be able to find his safe house...

Edit: Seeing Will Smith with gray hair makes me feel old.
