Re: Who likes Tool?
There are plenty of Tool fans here on OS. I am a big fan, and saw them when they played in Bossier City. Every member of Tool is insanely talented.
Check out A Perfect Circle. They're Maynard's other band.
Sober
Schism
Eulogy
Stinkfist
Forty Six & 2
Lateralus
Parabola
Hush
Prison Sex
Undertow
Vicarious
Jambi
The Pot
Just a few of their many great songs.Last edited by Gibbz; 08-03-2008, 09:54 PM.Comment

I know all about a perfect circle and I'm a big fan of them as well.
If I had one gripe with tool/perfect circle.....its that they will kind of dog on christianity in their lyrics sometimes and I dont care for that. But I dont want to get into all that.
They are one of my favorite bands of all time.Comment

Right in two (kind of a slower song with amazing lyrics)
Aenema
the grudge
the patient
Lost keys (amazing intro to rossetta)
Rossetta stoned
Intension
disposition (beautifull song/intro to reflection)
reflection
ticks and leaches
Opiate
and yes frrom top to bottom theres no band that compares. Their drummer is quite possibly the best in the world id take him over Neal Peart(sp?) any day, Maynard has the most amazingly powerfull voice, Adam Jones is sooo creative and Justin holds the most amazing bass lines, their so cohesive as a band. And the best part is they sound even better live and extend songs(good example and another song you should check out push it then check out push it live) . If you can get into them, next time they tour see them they are something special to see live.Last edited by YuNgWuN; 08-03-2008, 10:39 PM.Handshakes at sunriseComment

I think it's kinda insulting to try to compare them to other bands. They're unique.Comment

Actually now when I think about it, there isn't one Tool song I don't like, and listen to on the often. I can't say that about too many bands.Comment

Re: Who likes Tool?
Shine on forever
Shine on benevolent sun
Shine down upon the broken
Shine until the two become one
Right after the talk box solo ( in jambi), is hands down the most amazing and brilliant part in any song I have ever heard.
lol funny like buddy said I like every song, I can barely choose a fav album, ænima is great, but I find it hard to put it over 10,000 days let alone lateralus.
Opeth is another really amazing band if you can dig the death metal growl.Handshakes at sunriseComment

I disagree the Best Tool Song on so many levels is 10,000 days part 2. There is something magical about that song.Shine on forever

Re: Who likes Tool?
Yes I love that song as well, Justin is really good in that song, and the guitar solo (or whatever you wanna call it) is amazing. Man when i saw them live in Van they didnt play wings, then in kelowna they did but they stopped after part 1 because the crowd was being a bunch of ****ers, they were shining laser pointers in maynards eye. Too bad cause I would have loved to see that live.Handshakes at sunriseComment

Re: Who likes Tool?
One of my favorite bands but i much prefer their early stuff (Opiate\Undertow) when they were more straight forward. A lot of their new stuff is good but there just seems to much filler mixed in. There only real down point for me was Lateralus which I found boring. Oddly enough though I thought their best tour was in aupport of that Album. I have seen them around a dozen times and the Lateralus tour was my favorite becausae they seemed to just come out and play the songs. Too many times I have seen them play a song, Eff around for 10 minutes, play a stong, Eff around, etc... etc...
APC is another of my favorirtes. Thirteenth Steps is an amazing Album from start to finish.
Fans of APC need to check out Ashes Divide. It is the guitar players (head writer for APC) new band. Pretty good stuff, some really sounds like APC and then branches out with almost a Depeche Mode feel to it.Actually...believe it or not from my physique... I'm a light eater - Clay T. ShaverComment
