If I went any bigger, it would not have properly fit with my equipment, so I had to optimize. I'm okay with it, but I also know what I'm missing with those five inches. :) -

Re: Who plays an instrument?
I've been playing blues/jazz guitar since I was in 8th grade (about 10 years now.. damn). Like basically every guitar player, I also claim to play the bass (unlike most guitarists, I actually have a bass and a bass amp). I'd consider myself to be a pretty good guitarist, but I'm one of those guys that never plays even though I have 8 guitars sitting around the house. It's hard to find motivation to play anymore since I'm not in a band or anything anymore. I can still play as good as I ever could, but I get horrible blisters after a few SRV string bends.
I also played the drums a lot for a while -- I've played every instrument i nthe percussion section in high school band and actually played for several events (choir performances, musicals, secondary jazz band) at school despite not considering myself a drummer. I don't have a set currently, but the drums are something that I really love, and now that I have a house, I may get a set to mess around with.
Randomly, I've also played the trumpet, trombone, saxophone, and piano/keyboard. I'd really like to learn the upright bass and get much better at piano (especially reading chords and piano music).Send your Midnight Release weirdo pics/videos to my new website: http://www.peopleofmidnightreleases.com!Comment

Re: Who plays an instrument?
You don't like the reverse headstock? I have a PS-4 with a reverse as well. Always wished I would have bought a regular dual humbucker dinky. But I was just a stupid 15 year old.
Here are two guitars I assembled. The faux Ernie Ball is still not done. I have a set of Wolfgang pickups to throw in still.

Re: Who plays an instrument?
Acoustic and electric guitar, bass, drums, sing and attempt keyboard when I'm at my mom's house.
Got to play at the palladium in worcester once. That was fun. Opened for a local band called Letterday once too.I don't like the Yankees, I like the Red Sox, I don't like the Lakers, I like the Celtics, I hate the Canadiens and I love the Bruins. Soccer is the best sport on Earth, but most Americans are too ignorant to realize it. I am American.

Re: Who plays an instrument?
Reading this thread makes me sad. I want to play so badly (guitar, piano, drums, violin, anything) and yet I manage to have zero musical talent. I want to express myself musically and I can't. It's very, very frustrating.
I've had my acoustic for almost two years and I still haven't learned. I just strum like a douche and it sounds awful. I wish I could have someone teach me for a reasonable price (not $20 for 30 minutes)
And plasticbeast, I like your band. Hopefully you guys find another singer. Honestly, this guy is decent but I know you can find someone better. Good luck on your search.
People talking about instruments vs vocals. I don't think either is any less important than the other. You can show emotion whether it's voice, guitar, or any other instrument. I don't think anyone can say there's a definitive answer to which one produces the most amount of emotion.Originally posted by CardsFan27This is the 3rd time John Calipari has been to his first Final Four! What I'm Currently Listening ToComment

Re: Who plays an instrument?
I play guitar, mostly metal and prog. About a year ago I got garageband and expanded to a little blues, alt rock and 80s pop, doing some keyboards and programming with the drums and strings. I don't have any metal online, but we played some pretty decent shows at the time.
Here is the altrock/80s stuff I did with a friend for fun. Just me and him in Garageband.

Not bad man. How long does something like I Don't Care take to create on Garageband?I play guitar, mostly metal and prog. Re: Who plays an instrument?
About a work day. For something with parts that are all simple like that, it should take about four hours. You get it "record perfect" with your timing and that's pretty much it. Garageband is a really, really easy program to use. Very user friendly. We didn't have it written before we started recording, so I think the whole song from creation to recording took about a full day.Comment

That's not bad at all. I wish I had GarageBand. Maybe being able to fiddle around with something like that would motivate me to really learn actual instruments.About a work day. Re: Who plays an instrument?
Just my thoughts on 'I Don't Care'... Either tighten up the guitar tone(not the solo, the recurring rhythm section), or loosen it up some more. To me, it sounds like it is in the nether-region between fuzz and overdriven.
Nice playing on that background solo there at the end...Comment

Re: Who plays an instrument?
Guitar isn't hard to learn man... It is hard to get good at, and not even really hard, so much as it is time consuming. But getting basic guitar skills isn't really difficult at all as long as you apply yourself.Comment

Re: Who plays an instrument?
I have very hard time being able to move my fingers up and down the guitar. I can tell that my left hand is even worse than my right hand because it never gets used, and obviously I need that for chord progression.
Not only that, I have a really difficult time strumming. I'm just all over the place. When I should stick with it, I get frustrated and stop.
I know it wouldn't come easy for me, but I didn't think it'd be this hard. If I had someone teaching me and I could imitate what they were doing, it'd really help me. I'm definitely not the kind to self-teach.Originally posted by CardsFan27This is the 3rd time John Calipari has been to his first Final Four! What I'm Currently Listening ToComment
