Where did you buy your PC and are you happy with it?

My 2 1/2 year old Falcon has gone into perpetual death mode again and I've about given up on it (nearly everything in it has been replaced and it still is locking up, freezing, rebooting, etc) so I'm going to buy a new PC when I get my income tax back in February.

I'd like to hear from you guys on where you got your PC from and your experience with the company, in addition to if you'd buy another computer from them or not.

Ever thought about building your own? It's much cheaper and isn't as hard as people think.

I've actually built computers mostly from scratch (IE upgrading older ones) but when I tried recently to build one for my niece using old parts from the ground up I failed at it. I turn on the power supply and nothing happens whatsoever, ie the power supply fan doesn't even come on. I guess it could just be a bad power supply but it worked last when I had it on my old computer.

So I guess the answer is no because I haven't been able to successfully get hers off the ground using crap parts I kind of hesitate to start throwing money into higher end stuff and encounter the same situation.

If the power supply fan doesn't turn on, that's a pretty good sign the PS is dead. I can understand your hesitation to build a new one.

Sorry, I can't really help you with a good place to buy, as I've always built my own. Good luck with your search and let us know what you end up with.

If I was back home where I have a bunch of computer geek friends I'd definitely build my own. Then if I got stuck i'd have some help. Alas though down here in Virginia no one I know here knows anything about repairing a PC, let alone building one from scratch.

Cyberpowerpc.com (got it in the summer of 2006)

Yeah I guess I'm happy with it (don't ever order from this site.) They didn't have my cpu in stock, so instead of taking one business day to ship, my entire rig took a month to ship and then I finally got it.

I've had a few problems with my computer, but nonetheless, I'm satisfied. I did have to replace the video card, and I ended up getting 5 fans that were mandatory due to the horrible ventilation of the case they gave me.

Dell Latitude D810 laptop...not happy with the performance considering the steep price tag. Seriously considering keeping the $230 Toshiba laptop I got from Best Buy this morning.

Dell... Nothing wrong with the computer but I have a hard time dealing with the company. My next computer will not be from them.

Desktop: Dell.com and have had it for about 2 years with no problem.

Laptops: Best Buy this morning, made by Sony. So far, so good.

I got a Latitude D830 from Dell.com and it's been fine. I upgraded pretty much everything though. I also have an XPS that is awesome.

I have a Falcon Northwest that is over 6 years old. I just gave it to my son and never had any big problems with it....the occasional time when it wouldn't boot and I'd just have to power down and re-boot..

I have an Alienware for 2 years now and it's the best PC I've ever owned. ZERO problems with it Let's hope that continues...

I also have a Dell...no problems...but it doesn't compare to the Alienware, but really only because of the specs...I just needed a second PC for the wife..

I'm so disappointed in this Falcon but I will say the company has done what they can for me. I think I just got a lemon is all. It's been nothing but trouble since day one and no one can seem to figure out what it is. The MBoard, memory, hard disk have all been replaced and still the same ol' crap....lockups via freezing, blue screens of death, etc. Reinstalling windows and testing the components does not help. I'm at a wits end..
