    Steven King's "The Mist"

I didn't see any threads for this movie, so I thought I should start one.

Did anyone else see this movie over the weekend?!?!

The ending of the movie simply blew me away...don't want to spoil it.

What's everyone else's thoughts on it?

    Thanks,
    DaHokieBird

Yeah, how would you rate it? Is it worth seeing in theaters?

            Re: Steven King's "The Mist"

I'm surprised no one else has seen it yet. It got massive advertising.

Anyway, if you are Steven King, you have to see it. I am in fact not a Steven King fan (never read of any of his books).

Also, I am not a horror movie fan either. The main reason I went to see it was it was directed by Frank Darabont, who also directed Shawshank Redemption and The Green Mile.

The movie is actually really good. There are definitely some scary moments and it keeps you on the edge of your seat for almost the whole movie. And then there is the ending, which is absolutely stunning.

I would recommend seeing it in theatres if you like Steven King and/or horror movies.

            Thanks,
            DaHokieBird

I think it's only possible for 1 of us to be Stephen King, but good to know

This is on my radar but haven't felt like going to a movie lately.

As much as I enjoy Stephen King movies, this one is a dvd rental for me.
I already seen this movie in 1980....it was called "The Fog".

Sorry...but imo..this is a direct rip-off from John Carpenters original.

The Mist was written by King in 1979 and published in 1980, the same year Carpenter's movie came out. The novella (and the movie) are far superior to either version of The Fog.

It's nothing like it, but ok.

I loved the novella, which I read years ago, and was very much looking forward to the movie adaptation. I saw it on Saturday, and for the most part, was really happy with it. I thought they did an excellent job on casting and even with the way things looked. Most things, like the grocery store, were almost exactly how I had envisioned them when I read it.

The ending was a radical change, but unlike a lot of people who are up in arms over it, I didn't mind it.

One could argue you are a Stephen King fan...since, you know, both of those are Stephen King books.

I saw it over the weekend, and the ending was kind of pointless other than for shock value. I won't spoil it, but the ending does not connect with the mindset of the people involved, the mind set that caused them to be in that situation to begin with.

Yeah I get what you mean. But I thought overall the movie was really good.
