First one I gotta recommend has probably been heard by only a handful of people here: "Stay Young" by Strata. I've pimped Strata a LOT on here, and they are my favorite band, so you may say I am biased. But, I have never heard such a moving and emotional song in my life. It's about the basic addage, 'live each day as if it's your last/don't lose your innocence', but the song is so much more. The lyrics are just stunning, and Eric Victorino's lyrical delivery is almost haunting. I seriously recommend to any fan of any genre to listen to this song (well, I recommend the whole band really, but THIS song most of all). It's the only song I have appreciated so much that I will actually change CD's in my truck at inopportune times just to hear that one song. Just listen to it, however you can.
The second recommendation I have is "Blackbird" by Alter Bridge. I know it's still new and some people can't seem to see past Alter Bridge as anything more than Creed with a new vocalist. But, they are SO much more than that, and you can see that in this song. From Myles Kennedy's emotionally powerful vocals to Mark Tremonti's rediculous guitar work, this song has it all. Clocking in at 8 minutes long, it's in the same vein as lengthy classics such as "Freebird". Yeah, I know, it's not really THAT similar to Freebird apart from the length and the bad*ss solo at the end, but you get what I mean. The whole band matured bigtime from their first CD, and it really shows in "Blackbird".
So, what do you guys think?
