Family Matters theme.

I always seemed to think Family Matters theme and Full House theme were the same songs... turns out they aren't.

And who can forget the theme song to Saved by the Bell or Fresh Prince?

I downloaded a bunch of old movie scores last night and it motivated me to put together a list of some of my favs.

1. The Imperial March-from The Empire Strikes Back. Easily the greatest score of any movie at any time. Simply Epic.

2. Premontory (also listed as "The Kiss")-from The Last of the Mohicans. This is one of the greatest scores IMO and it also helps that the scene in which it plays is one of the best in a film...where Hawkeye, Chingachgook (sp?), and Uncas are chasing the Huron trying to save Cora at the end of the movie.

3. The intro music to V: The Final Battle (TV Miniseries 1985). The sequel to the original V miniseries had some kickazz intro music on the opening credits. Also..V just rules all.

4. The main theme to Pee Wee's Big Adventure. They are using it on the commercials for "Mr. Margoriums Wondrous Emporium" now. This is a classic by Danny Elfman. Great music.

5. The Opening Music to David Fincher's 1984 Sci Fi classic DUNE. Love the movie. Love the music as well. The score was actually done by the 80s band Toto.

Hey, that and the visuals were the only redeeming qualities of the movie.

But nowhere near the best soundtrack I have heard.

Cool thread!

Top three are definitely in order. The rest are in no particular order.

1. Theme from "Band of Brothers" by Michael Kamen. Just hearing it still almost brings me to tears.

2. "Ashokan Farewell" by Jay Ungar, the theme from Ken Burns' "The Civil War." An absolutely haunting piece of music.

3. Soundtrack from "Apocalypse Now." Who can forget Martin Sheen going insane and cutting his hand on the mirror while The Doors' "The End" played or the entire treeline and Vietnamese village going up in napalm while Wagner's "Flight of the Valkyries" played?

4. John Williams' score from the original "Star Wars." I'm not a "Star Wars" geek, but that soundtrack was incredible.

5. Theme from "Gettysburg," the movie. Super.

6. Soundtrack from "The Natural" by Randy Newman. The entire soundtrack is fantastic. Newman's range is superb. The same guy who wrote "I Love L.A." and "Short People" also wrote this stunning soundtrack.

7. Soundtrack from "Twin Peaks," the TV show. Superb atmospheric music from Angelo Badalamenti.

8. Music from any of the Dirty Harry movies. Lalo Schifrin's urban jazz-funk was fantastic.

9. Soundtrack from "The Fabulous Baker Boys." Great jazz soundtrack compiled by Dave Grusin. Very underrated movie, too!

10. Soundtrack from "Friday Night Lights," the TV show. You know it's a cool show when Explosions in the Sky does the soundtrack!

11. Theme from "Hockey Night in Canada" on CBC. It's HOCKEY TIME!

12. Any of the music from the "blaxploitation" flicks of the early 70s, especially "Shaft" by Richard Roundtree.

13. "Adagio For Strings," which was used as the theme for "Platoon." So sad, a perfect fit for that movie. Seeing Tom Berenger getting gunned down with his arms in the air while that plays hit me like few other scenes on film.

14. Soundtrack from "Cal" by Mark Knopfler. The first soundtrack I ever purchased, back in the early 80s. Superb mix of guitar work by Dire Straits' Mark Knopfler and traditional Irish tin whistles and other Irish instruments.

15. Soundtrack from "Swingers." Any soundtrack with Bobby Darin, The Jazz Jury, Dean Martin, Big Bad Voodoo Daddy and Average White Band on it is very cool by me. Fit the movie perfectly.

I like a lot of what everyone's listed so I'll say one that hasn't been listed...the theme to "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia." I don't know what it is about that song but it makes me think of Christmas for some reason.

The sounds of Curb Your Enthusiasm work perfectly too. From the opening theme to the little snippits that accent scenes. The music is PERFECT for that show.
