There isn't any differences, other than your perception of the world changing with age. Kids back then swore just as much when parents weren't around. They did WAY more drugs than kids do now. They had WAY more unprotected sex. I don't get where this line keeps coming from, but keep believing it I guess, if it makes you feel better. If you don't think so, you were probably pretty sheltered, and if a kid is sheltered now, they would have the same belief about this generation.

I didn't say anything about Teenage Birth Rates, why? They are going down.
    Here's the Statistics.
    http://www.infoplease.com/ipa/A0193727.html
    Age 15-19
    in 1995: 57 in every 1000 girls
    in 2004: 41 in every 1000 girls

    As for Teen Drug Use
    http://www.cnn.com/2007/HEALTH/12/11/teen.drug.use.ap/
    # Study: Overall drug use by U.S. teenagers is falling
    # Drugs most responsible for decline are marijuana, various stimulants
    # Use of methamphetamine down 64 percent since 2001
    # Exception is rise in abuse of prescription painkillers Oxycontin, Vicodin

    As for Teen Violence

"However, the crime rate decline may be coming to an end. Juvenile crime rates have grown substantially between 2004 and 2005. Arrests for murder grew 20 percent, and arrests for robbery grew 11 percent, while rates for the same crimes among adults grew only six percent for murder and one percent for robbery. This trend has officials worried about teen violence."

    http://www.cnn.com/2007/US/10/11/you...nce/index.html

    # Philadelphia's murder rate is returning to highs of 1980s
    # Police, prosecutors say one reason is the growing violence among youth
    # One teen says even having a "good-looking girlfriend" can get you shot

    For 2004

"In 2004, a higher percentage of middle school-age students (ages 12–14) than high school-age students (ages 15–18) were victims of crime at school (64 vs. 46 crimes per 1,000 students) (see table 36-2). In contrast, middle school-age students were less likely to be victims of crime away from school than were high school-age students (34 vs. 61 crimes per 1,000 students). Differences were also found by students’ household location. The rates of violent crime at school were higher for urban students than for suburban students. Furthermore, rates of violent crime away from school, especially serious violent crime, were also higher for urban students than suburban students. However, rural students experienced higher rates of theft away from school than urban or suburban students."

Flash Forward to the year 2007

"Incidents such as the shootings at Virgina Tech in 2007 as well as other school shootings in late September and early October 2006 have highlighted the growing rise of violence in schools."

    Stories of School related Violence

    Teenage Suicide Rates are Up.

"When it comes to teen suicide, the statistics make it clear that attempted suicide is a big deal as it relates to the youth. Additionally, suicide is one of the leading causes of death for teenagers - its the third leading cause."

    To Sum Things Up

There's a difference between ADULT Violence vs Teen Violence. This topic has been about teens.

There's concrete proof about Teen Violence. It's gotten worse.
There's concrete proof about Sex and Drugs. It is down.
