Best Program for Virus Removal?

Virus/Spyware/Malware/Trojan/Etc.

What is the best for removal? My roomies computer has something on it, that I can just not get rid of. I've tried AVG, Spy Bot, some Microsoft programs, etc. Nothing has worked.

I use Trent Micro Anti-Virus, it seems to work I guess but then again I havent had any virus problems to really test this out on.

first find out what the virus is, then search norton's website and they usually have free removal programs or steps on how to remove it

Norton? you gotta be kidding me....I use AVG for viruses and then a combination of Lavasoft Ad-Aware & Spybot Search & Destroy for spyware

This is the same setup I use but then throw in a Trent Micro Anti-Virus sweep and it should pick up any viruses you have.

I've used Trent Micro, but don't really use it on a regular basis....Norton & McAfee are a joke IMO

I also use Trent Micro. I use SpySweeper for spyware/adware.

A November 07 study in PC world says Norton is the best for both detection and removal but Mcafee is nearly just as good and a very strong 2nd place finisher. AVG is rated really low and missed many viruses and others it did detect were unable to remove them. I used AVG for years and I was infected and didn't even know it so I strongly recommend against using AVG.

When I get my income tax and my new machine I will be rolling with Mcafee. The Trend Micro program is supposedly good but a huge system resource hog btw.

Same here. My computer used to be infected, but it was wiped out by these programs.

Oh yeah, thanks for reminding me, my last computer that was infected had Lavasoft Ad-Aware and Spybot as well. All three programs you guys speak of, AVG, Ad-Aware and Spybot were all really very poor at detection and removal of viruses. PC World said that Ad-Aware and Spybot were, at one time, the best in the market but in the past couple of years have really fell behind the curve. They recommended spy-sweeper and another one called Spy-root or something like that (can't recall exactly the name) as being far superior to Ad-aware and spybot.

As I said, I had all three and thought I too was protected but as it turns out I wasn't, I had several Trojan horses and my computer eventually was killed by them.

I use Kaspersky Internet Security. Works great, seems pretty tough, and is very low on resource use.
