I never saw the first one but I saw this one and loved it.

If I went any bigger, it would not have properly fit with my equipment, so I had to optimize. I'm okay with it, but I also know what I'm missing with those five inches. :)

Just cam back now from seeing it. Ron Pearlman did another fantastic job of portraying HellBoy. had some great parts some ok parts and some 'eh' parts. overall it was a great summer movie.

I loved the first one, hearing that this one is better is excellent.

            Re: Hellboy II

Saw the movie tonight. It was much more "light hearted" then the first one. The first one was more dark and gritty. The overall story was alright. The basic concept was cool, but the movie did nothing to wow me. I was actually more impressed with the subtle reminder that Hell Boy is meant to do evil

            Spoiler

The guys did an excellent job with the costumes and character designs. A lot of it really did feel sort of Pan's Labyrinth-ish. Overall though, the movie gave me the Blade 2 vibe. It sort of felt like that some what.

              I'm just curious...

Del Toro wrote and directed the first Hell Boy as well... why have people made such a big deal about him doing the second one? Is it just because of the popularity of Pans Labrynth or do people just not realize?

I was wondering that too. I thought that I was just wrong when I thought that he did the first one but people were acting like he was replacing somebody.

This really didn't deserve it's own thread, but I've always thought the actor looked like Ted Danson and Will Ferrell's love child.

Circumstances kept me from seeing this on the big screen, but I didn't see this surpassing HB1 at all. It started out with a good base, but with the introduction of more and more characters it lost it's glisten for me. The goofy, campy oriented stuff just didn't resonate in my mind.
