Nope, they will start using the internet soon as all the new receivers can be connected to the internet. They don't even ask about connecting a phone line now.

Directv On Demand has been in the beta stages for a few months. This feature is available with the HR20 model HD/DVR receiver.

I did have an issue with t-storms a few times per year, but that was it.
I went out and looked, keep in mind I have the 5-LNB dish which seems larger and more square then circular, and it seems to really hold the snow on it for some reason. When I checked it last night there was slush all over it, once the weather gets a little better Im probably going to get up there and put some Rain-x on it in hopes that when/if it snows again it will slide off a little quicker. Ive seen things like heaters and covers for it but I dont have the money for those as of right now.

On a side note, I thought the reason you needed the phone line was supposendly for PPV? Ive since found out that you can actually still order PPV without the phone line, the downside is it wont show on your bill and once you leave Directv they will bill you for all of them that are pulled off of your access card.

eventually you won't be able to order PPV's with no phone line. I ordered some at first that way but now I can't.

How is that? Did they ban your account for some reason? I dont see why they would do that unless someone admitted to ordering a ton of PPV's without a phone line, because otherwise Im not sure how they would even know you were ordering them in the first place. Anyways, Ive ordered 1 UFC PPV and thats about it so Im not worried about it, but I am curious how you were able to order without the phone line and suddenly cant anymore.

I have one UFC PPV also. Your receiver automatically dials DTV every so often. After so many failed attempts you won't be able to get PPV's from your remote. I don't have a phone line near my tv so......... If I order a PPV I usually order it on our other TV. UFC is the only thing I ever get.

Weird, wonder how long it will take for me then, Ive only had the service for 5 months so we will see. I suppose it could have already happened since I havent ordered a PPV since the UFC event when Chuck fought Silva so its been awhile, we will see when I go to order the next time.

Just order online or use the online DVR function to setup a recording for it. The online function actually uses the satellite to send it to your dish, so everyone gets that signal, it just doesn't read it since its not for that receiver.

I'm an apartment dweller and want to know prior to moving to a location if I will get a signal w/ DirecTV. I have yet to secure a particular apartment but know the location has to face southwest. DirecTV seems unwilling to send a tech out just to see if it's possible by standing outside the complex. What are the suggestions for this issue? Will buying a compass completely solve the issue?

Watch out for DirecTV's installers. They're freakin' morons.

They came to my house to install the HD-DVR that I ordered and they cut the ****ing cable internet line so I haven't had internet at home since Tuesday! They said that that one "'wasn't being used" and I had no clue so I just let them work. They leave and I notice the internet was down. I called Time Warner and they said the earliest they could get someone out was Saturday.

                            I'm accessing from work now.

read here and you can use the sun or moon as a guide, if you can see it at the times for you area, then you will get a signal

                                Bumping this thread up.

Been a Dish Network customer for 2 years, than Direct for one. Today I came back to Dish and I'm happy to be back.

Direct was a disappointment for me. I got tired of the "No need to call us message." Plus I got a great deal to come back to Dish. Free HD DVR and plenty of promotions.
