    Re: War of the Worlds

Maybe the only movie that I absolutely reversed my opinion on from the first time I saw it. Have seen it three more times since my first viewing. Dakota was great but she's no Abigail Breslin (Little Miss Sunshine).

Abigail Breslin (Signs) >>>>>>> Dakota Fanning

I have a bad feel that Ms. Dakota will end up as one of those overpriced Hollywood types who end up in a terrible hedonistic drama spiral and goes to rehab.

Breslin needs to be in more quality movies while still being able to preserve some of her childhood.

I was an extra in "Summer Catch". I believe you've been topped.

Funny story about how that came to be. I was in college at UNCW, and we found out they were having a casting call in Southport, NC for people to be on the other team's that Freddy Prinz Jr's team would be playing in the movie.

My buddy and I went down to audition, and when we went to sign up, the casting director asked us which college we played baseball at. We, of course, replied none.

They told us they were looking for people with at least a year or two of college baseball experience, so thanks but no thanks.

Then, she took a second look at us and said, "You know...they're going to be filming a bar scene in about 2 hours right down the road. Would you guys like to be extras in that?"

So...to sum it up...I didn't look the part of a baseball player, but I sure as hell fit the bill of a guy who'd be hanging out at a bar.

Very average film...I think Cruise actually brought it down a notch.
