Re: Grammys 2008
The Grammys aren't as out of touch as the days when Jethro Tull beat Metallica for the best hard rock band, but they still aren't even remotely close to having their finger on the pulse of the music scene.
They've gone from a complete joke to just a joke. I guess that's progress.
Take care,

Re: Grammys 2008
I dunno, I listened to some of Amy Winehouse's music and eh....not my style. I also can't get behind someone who used the instrumentals behind "aint no mountain high enough" and laid a vocal that kills the song and not in a good way.
BTW I'm still pissed Lou Rawls was beating Marvin Gaye back in his heyday. At least I understood when Stevie Wonder beat him a couple times but Lou Rawls? YEESH. So the Grammys may not be an absolute joke anymore but it's still a joke.Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club

What does her personal life have anything to do with whether she wins an award for her music? I think someone already mentioned it, but would you say The Beatles are undeserving of their status because they used LSD all the time?Listen to some of my covers:

Re: Grammys 2008
If someone has videos circulating of them doing things they have NO BUSINESS doing; then yes they should be punished. They should not be rewarded.
It is a privilege to win a Grammy. It isn't a right.
Grammy awarding crack-heads and we wonder why this world is as f*cked up as it is now.
Might seem HARSH but she needs to be held accountable.Concrete evidence/videos pleaseComment

Should Bonds make the Hall of Fame if he was found to have committed perjury about his steroids testimony?
Do you hold athletes to the same standards as crackhead entertainers?

So Shawne Merriman shouldn't have made the Pro Bowl last season, right? After all, he was suspended for steroids for four games last year but still made the Pro Bowl.

Re: Grammys 2008
Right Barry Bonds shouldn't be allowed in the HOF.
Lights Out was punished by the authorities of his profession.
Actually I am basing the idea off of the fact that athletes get punished for their off field/court activities. (Pac-Man; Vick).Concrete evidence/videos pleaseComment

Hah!
Scott is right on actually. I mean most of the great geniuses of modern pop music were all high on one thing or another. Hell, some artists think that being high/intoxicated/whatever makes their voice sound better!Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club

Exactly. They had a song about LSD... they would've had to cancel every music award show in the 70's. Should we strip Whitney of her awards? The Doors? Nirvana? I mean there was a movie made about the Doors and Morrison's destructive lifestyle. Plus what does it matter if she's a crackhead? It's self destructive but she can pay her own bills. She's hurting herself, her family and her friends but certainly not hurting me. She does a pretty good job supporting whatever habit she chooses to have. And if anyone thinks that kids will believe that her success is due to her "habits" rather than her habits limiting how successful she can be, then you just need to do a better job of talking to your kids. This isn't steroids we're talking about. She's not taking "performance enhancing" drugs.Comment
