I know it may be hard for some to believe but making ones self feel good about being a do-gooder for the environment takes the backseat to many comparative to being killed by a very real enemy with a gun (or nuke) in hand.

Yeah, I want to live in a healthy environment because it will make me feel good about myself.

Damn straight...I'm personally not convinced we have even a 90% success rate in all this yet, if they had to shoot at a bunch of missiles. Split seconds make the difference, one tiny thing can make the intercepting missile harmlessly explode.

Because you are going to be killed by a missile, or a satellite, or a nuke, or a gun?

You have a better chance of falling out of your bed and dying due to head trauma, than being killed by a terrorist.

How are we even on this path? What does shooting a missile at a satellite have to do with being killed by a gun or a nuke?

shooting a satellite is different than a missile.

With the satellite, they have had months to prepare where exactly this will be in orbit.

yeah, not to mention, russia and china have missiles with systems to counter our defense missiles. So not only would our missile have to be aimed just right to hit a nuclear missile coming our way, it would have to get past things that are meant to confuse it.

The missile defense stuff is meant to show who has more money to spend. As soon as we hail the stuff we spent billions developing, the Russians say they have something that can beat it. So not only do we have doubts this will even work, but there's doubts as to if it's even relevant given what technology is out there.
