The Incredible Hulk gets a 4.5 from Blu-Ray.com

The Incredible Hulk is a fine example of a comic book movie done right. It offers amazing visuals and plenty of action, but, more important to the story, never falters in the areas of character development and narrative, which are crucial in creating a more fulfilling cinematic experience. The Incredible Hulk, Iron Man, and The Dark Knight are all shining examples of the comic book-based movie done absolutely right, and 2008 will be remembered as one of the best years the genre has seen to date. Universal brings The Incredible Hulk to Blu-ray in a package that is a definite must-own. Featuring excellent video quality and a reference-grade soundtrack that raises the bar for action movie extravaganza mixes, not to mention a jam-packed supplemental section, a digital copy of the film, and a unique green-colored Blu-ray case, the disc is impossible to resist. The Incredible Hulk comes highly recommended!

The picture quality is excellent again, same as the HD DVD.

The soundfield though is awesome, the effects and voices coming from the surrounds is insane.

Joe, you will be in for a real treat with both. I reviewed both films earlier in the month on Blu-ray and the picture quality is rather clean and pristine. Weinstein has been doing well with their high def transfers.

I would rent it first. All of my friends that saw it and I thought it was pretty bad.

This may not really help you, but these were my impressions upon seeing it for the first time (spoiler-free):

Just came back from this. This movie falls into the "good but not great" category. I really like what they did with this, though. It was just what you expected... strangers entering a house and terrorizing (though I would prefer the word "playing") with the victims. Why? Because they were home. No motive. Not even any real identities necessary.

The entire movie was dark from beginning to end. No light, happy tone even with the main characters, though you get a good feel for who they are and why we should want them to come out on top. But aside from the beginning, there's no real feel of the rising action, climax, denouement, conclusion... you know. It's just scene after scene from there. Some are very intense, others are pretty calm.

The thing about this movie is that it really does everything right, but it doesn't take any risks. It didn't try anything new, and it was actually very tame for a horror "slasher", so to speak. Its scares weren't in its loud noises, being in the dark, cheap camera tricks, or anything like that. It's the setting that was intense. You could get scared from this movie just by staring one of the "strangers" in the face without them needing to pop up with blaring music or unexpectedly.

This really is the basis for horror movies, and I really like that they went to basic roots to make this movie. No excess use of blood (or deaths, for that matter), language, or nudity. The movie was also very linear, easy to understand. Small in cast, budget... didn't try to outsmart us. And furthermore, this is a movie where I would have no problem if they chose to make a sequel or not, and I would see it if they did. Just a few more (smart) risks to try and make it something different instead of the same formula, and you have another good horror movie.

I don't know why this is rated so low on Rotten Tomatoes. It was a general run-of-the-mill 1970s throwback horror film and that's all.
I'm getting this on Blu for sure, but I still don't know whether I want to get it before Halloween or on Black Friday. Knowing me, I'm probably about to head out in a half hour to Best Buy and purchase it... but if I can save some restraint, I will hold off till I buy like twenty movies on Black Friday.

Unless... do you guys think the price for movies that just released will be cut considerably? I know there may be some $10 Blu-ray movies, but do you think this title would drop a dime under $20? (as well as The Incredible Hulk, Hancock, Iron Man, etc.)

My guess would be that new releases will still be in the $20 range. Older catalogs would be in the black friday bargain bins.

Thanks, I'm considering price-matching some of these newer movies at Best Buy from the Wal-Mart prices then.

If you have a Sears near you, you can price match there and get the lower price + 10% of the difference. Might save you an extra $1 or 2.

The price matching there is a HUGE help when you're talking HDTVs.

I tried that at my Sears once when buying Cloverfield, and the guys there said it only applies to electronic hardware, not DVDs. I called bull, said I've done it before (only because you guys said it was true), and they said no. I got pissed and left; the person almost wanted to sell it then when I was saying I'd take my purchase elsewhere... but I think he didn't want to get in trouble.

Which wouldn't make sense, really. Is there somewhere online that actually says this so I can print it in their faces in case they do that again?

I will be watching the film tomorrow night and reviewing it by Thursday. Only studio I don't have full support from is Universal since their PR company is well, I won't say it here. LOL!

Well I watched my copy of "Dairy of the Dead". I really enjoyed it very much. I won't go into detail as to not to spoil anything. IMO this is vintage Romero. Actually liked this more than Land of the Dead.

The scare & gore are there. The premise of the movie is believable which helps the movie & as always there's a message to the movie. I highly recommend this for any & all Romero fans but also to horror fans in general.

BTW the Video is reference IMO while the Audio is good but not reference like the Video
