Alexa.com ... pretty cool site that documents/graphs website traffic

I stumbled upon this while looking at a collegehumor.com picture.

Basically, it gives you line graphs dealing with website traffic over a period of time. You can compare up to five sites. It's pretty interesting to see rival websites against each other.

Here's the profile for Operationsports.com over the past year...



Here's the profile for google.com since the end of 2001...



Here's the profile for cnn.com since the end of 2001 (notice the major spikes from 9/11 and the Iraq Disarmament Crisis)



This one is kind of funny... the traffic for Porn.com over the last year... notice when it spikes (when college kids get back to school) and when it dips (when college kids are home).

Pretty cool.

Here is one for 2ksports.com. Notice the spikes when NBA 2K8 and College Hoops 2K8 came out.

The only problem with alexa is it's accuracy. A website ranked under 1,000 seems to be pretty reliable, but anything above that isn't. It is cool though, but there are more and more competitors coming out.

compete.com is a newer one too. (you can compare multiple sites and other stuff, I think it's by google)
