    Re: Vizio VX37L HDTV

I have the 32 inch Vizio lcd and it has been very solid. I used to work in the electronics dept. at Sears so I've seen all the big boys in action. Samsung, Sony, Panasonic are definitely better but are they "that much" better? Depends on your budget and how big of an audiophile and/or videophile you are. A lot of times you're simply paying for the name brand.

Now, if you look at 2 Samsung's, one is 10,000:1 and one is 25,000:1, you will see a better pic on the 25,000:1 model.

BUT, if you look at a Sony that is 10,000:1 and a Sammy that is 25,000:1, they could be really similar.

My TV is 8,000:1, looked as good to me as a 15,000:1 Samsung, and close to the 20,000:1 Sammy. Is it? No clue. But once it's in your living room, you have nothing else to compare it to. Remember that as well when buying TV's. I love the picture on my set and I'm very happy with it. I didn't go broke buying it either.
You can't compare the contrast ratios from one company to another because they have started to calculate these with fuzzy match. They are trying to have the highest number now, when really there isn't a difference when you reach a certain level.

I think that's what EG was trying to say.

I just found this phrase on AVS. I was trying to get this understanding. I think I'm going to start saving for a decent Vizio. Since it's affordable and basically solid enough. I need a nice 52-inch gaming television for the living room so I can free up the computer monitor. Vizio still a solid pick?

Mine's been great for almost a year now...I'd get another one in a heartbeat.

I'm planning on getting a Vizio soon too, if I'm using it for gaming and movies should I get a plasma or lcd?

If I went any bigger, it would not have properly fit with my equipment, so I had to optimize. I'm okay with it, but I also know what I'm missing with those five inches. :)

                My vote would be LCD.
