Re: Stanford University Tuition.........$0
For the United States, it is.
I had dinner at some fancy hotel last Wednesday with 4 senators and about 12 lobbyists. One of the lobbyists worked for Qualcomm.
Anyways, the relevance to the topic at hand, was there's apparently a problem with the government issuing far too few work visas to the technology companies. Girl said that something like 40-50% of the graduates from MIT, Cal Tech, Georgia Tech, and a few other engineering powerhouse schools were foreign. She said with the limited ability of US companies to hire these kids, they basically end up going back home with a bomb *** degree.
I'd imagine other fields aren't quite the same, making this post irrelevant, but I never pass up an opportunity to pad my post number.Comment

This will never come to public schools. They can get away with it because, once you graduate and get a great job, you will want to contribute back. The only real cost is the housing, the other classes would still be going on with or without these students there. I'm sure they will find a way to limit the amount of people or raise requirements to get in.Comment

I visited the campus a couple years ago and it was one of the nicest I've ever seen.Originally posted by BlzerLet me assure you that I am a huge proponent of size, and it greatly matters. Don't ever let anyone tell you otherwise.
If I went any bigger, it would not have properly fit with my equipment, so I had to optimize. I'm okay with it, but I also know what I'm missing with those five inches. :)Comment

I think it shows great social responsibility my not only the school, but its donors as well. Not every university can do that, and thats too bad, but at least those schools that can do it, show enough common sense, and grasp the importance of an education and have allowed those not financially busting at the seams to be able to attend a fine university.Check out my Tampa Bay Buccaneers CFM Thread.
You too can be a 5* recruit at FSU.......

Re: Stanford University Tuition.........$0
Well not many people want to dedicate several years after college to serve. I still believe it's an unfair advantage.
I'll say in baseball...you get 11.7 scholarships MAX for 30+ players. Basically the first question to the recruits are going to be "How much do your parents make". Under $100,000 then the kids basically get a full ride...and other schools can't really compete.
I guarantee that the coaches who have limited scholarships jumped out their chairs when they heard this was going to happen.
It's RARE for a baseball player to get a full ride.

I see what you mean about baseball though, all of the partial scholarships are full rides now, same with all the other sports. They already win that all around sports trophy every year, gonna be hard to wrestle that away now. Why wouldn't you go Stanford if you could?Chalepa Ta Kala.....Comment

Re: Stanford University Tuition.........$0
You bring up a good point. What are Stanford's SAT & GPA requirements for their athletes? I would assume they ar lower than the general population so I'm not sure if they could let in a bunch of athletes to fill out their football roster and have them pose as walk-ons because the scholarship is already taken care of.

Point is...people who complain about lowering acadmeic standards must really have no clue what they really are.
