Want to be an ESPN researcher? Finish this test in one hour...

I found this on DeadSpin.com. Apparently, this is the test ESPN gives to people applying for a job as a researcher. They give you one hour to complete it. No way in hell I'd ever be able to do this, hah! So take a look and next time you're sitting at home watching SportsCenter and thinking, "Heh, I could do this!", think again!

Think I found something to spend an hour on this weekend...

Being able to use the internet and a calculator, this shouldn't be too bad.

It wasn't that bad (just skimming, not actually doing all the math), though I personally don't know how a lot of stats are calculated and stuff like that. More just tedious (like the job would be IMO).

It doesn't seem that bad. And what you can't find facts on, just fabricate a story. This is BSPN for crying out loud.

Three of my boys are researchers at ESPN, one didn't get the job because he couldn't pass the test. Kinda mind boggling since you can use the Internet and any other resource you can get your hands on.

The only thing that would be hard is if you had to know the factual stuff they ask for beforehand. If you have internet access during this I don't see how it's possible to miss anything.

Sections 7, 8, and 10 might take five minutes total, if that.

I would imagine the biggest challenge is finishing it all in one hour.

I suppose it would be difficult to have internet access and not get tempted to check OS or something.

I think this test is designed not only to test your sports knowledge but also your ability to work in a high pressure situation...I imagine that completing this thing in an hour would be very tough

Some of this certainly looks do-able but in an hour? Wow....interesting nonetheless.

If I have some free-time I'll see if I can do this in an hour this weekend. I really think I can. The only thing I might struggle on is the Nascar bit. Have never watched one second of one race.

Just add the numbers of the specific drivers and then pick the 12 highest out of the 15. There is no knowledge of NASCAR needed.

Secondly, watch a race! It is quite interesting once you start watching.

Too the average person, but if you've been doing sports stats in your head since you were a kid, I don't even have to think about calculating a persons slugging %, you give me singles, doubles, triple, homers and AB, I'm already doing it in my head before you ask for it.
