I think that Tom Cruise was great. He stole every scene that he was in. Good for him.

          Re: Tropic Thunder

Well, when I first saw the trailers and stuff, I thought the movie was going to suck a big one because of the big name cast and hype blowing everything out of proportion. Then I heard some reviews of it after some of the guys from Opie & Anthony saw it, and when a professional comedian says that he loves the movie and thinks its really funny, then I listen.

Well, I saw it this afternoon after I got off of work. I really enjoyed the movie overall. It wasn't knee-slapping funny, but I found myself laughing pretty consistently. And then I was actually surprised by some of the action; I would hope with the budget that they put into the movie, they would have some nice explosions and stuff, and I wasn't disappointed. To me it was a quality mix of comedy & action (more comedy than action) and I'll definitely see it again when it comes out on DVD

Ben Stiller did a really good job directing the action stuff, he could do a serious war movie and it would look great.

              Re: Tropic Thunder

I saw it last night, and was surprised that it was actually pretty good. From the trailers I thought it would be garbage, but I saw some good reviews so I decided to see it for myself.

Some impressive visuals, entertaining characters and great one-liners made this one of the best movies I've seen in theatres this summer.

I know there is some controversy for Stiller's "Simple Jack" character, and I'm not offended because of it being in bad taste or anything, I just don't think it was very funny and didn't really contribute anything to the movie. It would have been great had they just shown the clips from Simple Jack when it was first mentioned, but referencing it later in the movie wasn't a good idea. Stiller was solid but I think he could have been much better in his role.

Tom Cruise was hilarious, but his dancing scenes had me sinking into my seat.

Robert Downey Jr. and the special effects guy that was also in Pineapple Express really stole the show, in my opinion. Downey Jr. was very good every scene.

              I'd probably give it a 7/10.

If you like the special effects guy, check out a movie called Foot Fist Way. Danny McBride stars in it and it was an indie movie and then Will Ferrell liked it so much he helped distribute it some

                    Re: Tropic Thunder

The first half of the movie was pretty funny (especially those trailers), but the last half was extremely funny at every turn. McGonahay at the end was great, as well as the spoiler cameo mentioned above.

I'll say this: Downey Jr. is INCREDIBLE and was hilarious at every single scene and line throughout the whole thing. Stiller was, as usual, very entertaining, and Nolte is Nolte.

But Jack Black I thought outshined them all. I hate Black in every movie he's in, don't find him funny at all (School of Rock is the exception) but he was perfect for the part and I thought he was great. When he was offering 'things' to be freed from the tree I almost pissed myself. He was great.

                    Fun movie, great cast.

Other than the Ed Harris Western and the trailer for Hamlet 2, what other trailers did they show? I'm completely blanking on that part.

Those opening scenes definitely took me off guard, but the promo and the RDJ trailer were hilarious especially with Tobey. MTV's Best Kisser, lol.
