Re: Tropic Thunder
Hilarious, plain and simple. I was laughing out loud right from the get go with the fake trailers. Even my fiance, who said this looked stupid, laughed her arse off the whole time.
Gotta say, Downey's role as Lazarus was a classic. Some of his lines, and mainly some of the faces he makes had me literally crying. I thought I was gonna die when he got all offended at the Crocodile Dundee joke.
Great movie, and i'll probably go see it again next weekend with a couple buddies who wanna see it as well.Comment

Re: Tropic Thunder
I thought the movie was hilarious. I don't think I went longer than 2 or 3 minutes without laughing the entire movie. As a Ben Stiller fan, I expected it to be funny but it definitely exceeded my expectations. I'm not a Tom Cruise fan but his scenes in the movie were funny as hell and totally out of character from the roles he usually has in movies. Robert Downey Jr. made the movie though. His facial expressions and accent were too funny. Probably one of the funniest movies I've seen in years.Comment

Re: Tropic Thunder
So, it is safe to say that Robert Downey, Jr. is finally the "it" star he was supposed to be years ago, huh?
I thought this movie was hilarious. It wasn't funny all the time. I surely went through large intervals where I didn't laugh at all. But, overall, it was hilarious and much like Zoolander, it's one of those movies that's funnier after the fact."It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. And that those who receive and act out the gift of athletic genius must, perforce, be blind and dumb about it -- and not because blindness and dumbness are the price of the gift, but because they are its essence." - David Foster Wallace

Re: Tropic Thunder
I wouldn't call it black face. It was a funny movie, I was on a date and the girl I was with and me was laughing most the time. The beginning was crazy, bust a n#t drink.Last edited by Primerica; 08-19-2008, 09:42 PM.Comment

Re: Tropic Thunder
Absolutely hysterical. RDJ and Cruise absolutely made the movie - I didn't even recognize Cruise until someone pointed it out to me that it was him.
But Downey Jr., man...just amazing. "Are we cutting or crying?"
But my favorite scene, probably:
SpoilerRDJ: "I don't read the script. Script reads me."
Kevin: "What does that even mean?"Comment
