Sorry if this was already posted.

Starting March 30, ESPNews is moving to high-definition, and although that will make the highlights sparkle if you have an HD set, what strikes me as the best innovation is what you see on the left of the above photo. From ESPN's release:
One notable innovation in the 16x9 HD delivery of ESPNEWS is the "HD Sideline" graphic. This latest incarnation of the traditional "BottomLine" will now wrap around the top, left and bottom of the screen for HD viewers. This will allow for additional real-time information – news, scores, stats, headshots, standings, and more – to be imparted, while still delivering 16x9 HD video in the remaining space. The familiar "BottomLine" on ESPNEWS' standard definition presentation has also been redesigned to convey additional text, headshots and graphics. It will continue to reside at the bottom edge of the screen.
ESPNews is in 63 million homes, and if the people I know who get it are any indication, viewers don't watch for the highlights nearly as much as they watch for information.
People turn ESPNews on first thing in the morning or when they get home from work because they want to know what news and scores they've missed, and the crawl at the bottom of the screen is where they get that information. If the move to HD makes more of that information available, it's a good thing.
