I'll be headed to the Auto Show here in NYC tomorrow to see it first hand.

It's a shame I can't see the new TL... THAT'S the car I'm looking forward to.

Not here to knock anything. I'm actually curious and interested.

What is the appeal with cars that you know you won't buy? For example, Pared says he can't wait till that new TL comes out. Why? Are you ever going to actually drive it or do you just like looking at the cars?

Serious questions. Again, no mocking or jokes. It just doesn't make much sense to me.

I think certain cars look hot and stuff but I just never understood the reasons to get one. If I'm driving the car what does it matter what it looks like outside? Other people get to look at it but that's not satisfying me. I only get to look at it when it's parked. I guess I feel like I would be missing out on what others get to see.

And perhaps that's what you guys like. You are those people that like looking at the car. Doesn't matter if you're not in it. That's cool.

I'm asking two questions then. Why do you like driving a hot car that you never get to really look at unless it's parked? Why do you like looking at hot cars that you'll never actually get to take home and drive?

I like trains. Sitting in them. Them taking me to my stop. Two bucks. That's a dream come true.

I remember when the train was $1. At least we get free transfers to buses now.

I'm interested in the new TL because I'm looking at getting a new car. The current TL Type-S is a car that I want, but knowing they might be re-designing the car (as Acura usually does when they release a Type-S after a few years of minimal changes) has me interested. I can't speak for anyone else but I always look at cars because that's one I may be driving soon.

I love the way a car looks from the outside because, to me, it's just as important as the inside. If I'm putting down 40 to 50k on a car, it better look nice... even if I only get to see it's parked.

The inside to me is a given that it is going to be enjoyable... at the price I'm looking to pay. There are rare instances where I don't enjoy the inside though... like the Mitsu Lancer Evo or the Mini Coop...

Do you own a car, YP? It's pretty similar to owning a house... why do you cut the grass or re-paint the outside...? It's only the inside where you stay warm that matters, right?

I feel the same way on both points. If I'm dropping any amount of money on a car, it better be something I like both inside and outside (as I know what it looks like when driving and will see the outside multiple times every day). It also better be something that's reliable as I don't want to deal with repairs all the time.

Trains aren't available in this area so that's not an option. Buses are few and far between and don't often go to where I need them to take me. So neither option is very practical for me.

In the end, I'm a car guy. I love going to car shows, I love going to dealerships and looking at what's new on the lot, I love getting brochures on new cars and reading them etc... I guess it's one of my many interests. Now only if I could find a way to win the lottery so I could purchase whatever I wanted!

Good answers. Definitely understand that.

I don't own a car. Driven many as I've worked for Enterprise once. I also hate driving so I don't want to own a car anytime soon.

Just picked up the 2008 G35, and a 2009 Murano SL to replace my 350z and Xterra.. Loving both cars.

Maybe it's just me.

The TL is sweet though. I've seen a couple of Type S ones around the last week or so.

I hate Hondas... my friend has a S2K and I wasn't impressed either.

Acura isn't bad but if there is anything I'm a fanboy of it is Nissan/Infiniti so I wouldn't be caught in a Acura.

I was a big fan of the Integra Type R though.
