Re: Watch what links you click, you might get a visit from the FBI
But in general, I don't know how this doesn't scream entrampment. Even disregarding the Firefox prefetch feature, like mentioned, all it takes is someone to click a link on a website and it turns out to be one of the FBI fake child porn sites. Is it stupid to click on a link, not knowing what it is? Sure, but seems very ridiculous that you could get arrested.Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club

Re: Watch what links you click, you might get a visit from the FBI
In the article it said that using entrapment as a defense is more than likely not going to work since there wasn't any pressure on the people to click on the link. Since this tactic is public I wonder if the FBI is still using it and if these type of links have been passed around. I doubt anyone caught in this particular case is completely innocent though.Originally posted by BlzerLet me assure you that I am a huge proponent of size, and it greatly matters. If I went any bigger, it would not have properly fit with my equipment, so I had to optimize. I'm okay with it, but I also know what I'm missing with those five inches. :)Comment

I would guess that these FBI websites and anywhere they link them at, is made clear that it is a child pornography website, whereas if they are found out and spread claiming them as who knows what, a lot of ugly will happen.
We are just getting in very bad territory, if clicking on a link can result in being arrest (no matter the content), not good.Comment

I would agree about most people caught are probably innocent, but I think the most worrying would be the fact is if people find out these websites and spread them, falsely advertising them.

Let's not be naive here. If someone really had it out for you in particular (or the masses in general) and sent out a modified hyper-link to that particular server, then all you'd have to do it show the e-mail or referencing hyper-link that didn't contain any reference to child porn and you'd be in the clear.Comment

Re: Watch what links you click, you might get a visit from the FBI
You don't have to have it out for someone to send them the link. The internet is full of people who would do something like that just for laughs. And like the quote I posted earlier there are other ways of getting flagged as downloading from the site, which could get you in trouble. This doesn't have to be limited to child porn either, the FBI could use this tactic for anything they want since the courts don't seem to care that it's pretty easy to exploit someone's system(people who don't know much about the internet or computers) and/or trick people into clicking links.
I read the article. It basically stated users could be potentially flagged because the FBI can't tell if the server was visited from the specific link they posted or some other way.
Again, let me know when the latter happens. Until that time you are playing the "what if" game. The guy was caught with illegal stuff on his computer and even attempted to destroy it.Comment

I bet MySpace is going to be the first place these links are going to be plagued.
