Re: School me on Wireless routers

If you have the wireless adapter in a computer you will be able to use the wireless wherever you take it assuming there is wireless access there.

Shouldn't experience too much lag, I used the wireless adapter on my 360 for awhile and it worked fine.

Depends on the type of setup your apartment complex has. If you are able to connect wirelessly to your apartment without putting in any sort of password then it's not secure at all.

And if it's not secure I am SOL huh?

I don't know if the Time Warner (that's who the internet and cable is from at the apartment) could give me a modem if I pay extra or what... not sure how that works.

There is another way to connect to XBOX Live without the $100 adapter. Just google search connecting to Xbox live without the wireless adapter. I did it and it works fine. I just moved and cant have my router or modem next to my TV, so basically what you do is transform your computer into router by sharing your internet connection.

What you do is go into your computer and make it share your internet connection and then go into your 360 settings and manually change the IP address, DNS addresses, etc. If you find an article online it will take you through the steps. I will post the link when I get home, I'm at work right now and don't have the time to find it, just wanted to send a quick note to tell you to look into this solution before spending the $100 on the wireless adapter.

Re: School me on Wireless routers

Well i just called and the lady told me that each room in their living room has a connection and all she did was get a wireless router, so hmm...

If that's the case, I could get a wireless router and connect the cord from the router into the 360 and then just buy two USB 2.0 adapters for the PC's correct?

Guess I should wait and check out the setup so I will know for sure.
