Thanks for that. They touched on a subject that I had a little Youtube comment discussion about a while ago with some people. The subject was the similarities between her and "The Love Below" era Andre 3000 (compare the "Hey Ya" video to "Many Moons" and "Dance Apocalyptic").

I wondered if her style was more inspired by Andre or vice versa, because even though Andre came out on a national stage first with that style, Monae did know them and was around them at the time and she was actually a local performer during that time. So my point was that maybe Andre saw how she was doing her thing, and drew inspiration from that for "The Love Below", specifically the "Hey Ya" video.

Glad to see they addressed that in this interview. She laughed about it and gave sort of a non-answer that kind of makes me think that she did indeed have a bigger influence on him than people realize.

I originally bought the album through iTunes, but discovered through the interview above that the Target Deluxe Edition had four extra tracks, so I bought that too. Haha. And that's when I stumbled upon this gem:

^ Thanks for reminding me - something to look forward to today, I really liked her first mixtape.

This girl right here had a crazy chill first album released back in 05 (still bump it at night), if your a fan of Nicolays (Foreign Exchange) production then definitely take a listen to the full album "Life: Living In Fearless Emotion" by Havana.

I get a Baduizm vibe from that Havana vid. Nice. I can't find Tinashe on Spotify. Damnit.

Not sure how many Sharon Jones fans are on here, but recently she's been battling bouts of cancer while recording and touring. Pretty good article for a great soul woman.

Not sure how many Sharon Jones fans are in here, but her and the Dap-Kings put out a new album last week and its pretty damn good. Recommended to everyone who likes that retro-soul sound.
