Fear & Loathing in Las Vegas

This is my favorite movie bar-none and it was basically a flop at the box office and still doesn't get the respect it deserves. Part of the reason it's so damned funny is because Hunter S. Thompson's writing is used verbatim throughout a lot of the movie, but Terry Gilliam's crazy visual sense and Depp/Del Toro's performances were just perfect. Depp in particular (being a method actor) spent a bunch of time hanging out with Hunter to get his mannerisms down -- Hunter said it pissed him off at first, but they were good friends after the movie was made. He absolutely nails Hunter and the Raoul Duke character, and the dialog in the movie is just hilarious the entire way.

Anyway, the movie is absolutely hilarious, has deep moments (just like the book), and has a ton of random cameos that are just funny to me. Heh, the knife scene in the elevator kills me -- I still giggle like an idiot whenever I watch this movie.

Out of all the movies listed i would have to say my favs that were mentioned were: No Retreat, No Surrender (classic right there... nad with Van Damn a bad guy, hilarious!); The Last Dragon (just watched that on tv like 2 or 3 days ago); and Dirty Work (Norm and Chappelle, nuff said)

Chalk up another point to Best in Show. Hilarious movie.

I would have to say that my absolutely favorite film ever (purely based on the amount of viewings) is Excalibur and I rarely, if ever, hear anybody name drop that.

Also, Princess of Bride has to be the greatest date movie ever.
