You know, as much as the movie is getting dogged by the critics, it looks like it could be a cool movie if you go in knowing to expect a cartoonish film.

I just got back from seeing it and i have to say i was blown away. Definitely a good movie if you take it for what its worth. I walked away very impressed. It was as good as Ironman in my opinion. The fact that Its based on a corny 80s cartoon, I'm not sure why most of you expected the most plot involving story ever. I watched Speed Racer as a kid but never really liked it, actually i hated it. Only watched it when there was nothing on (sadly that was very frequent)

I'll admit that theres a whole bunch of color in the film, especially for the last race, since his car is white it reflects all that color from the track and was enough to give people seizures.

I don't know why people would bash a movie without seeing it. Its sad that some of you aren't going to give it a chance because because its too "colorful" etc. It had good actors and a decent enough story to keep the viewers interested.

You're right though. If you go in thinking it's going to be a disappointment, why see it at all? Just forget what everyone else says about it, and see it for yourself, with a clean slate.

This movie looks corny in my opinon. I definitely won't be wasting my money on it. I can't stand to watch the freakin' preview so there's no way I could set through the movie. All those darn colors in the preview are enough to make me nauseous and dizzy. To each his own but this just doesn't interest me at all.

We only had 3 channels and Speed Racer was on around 4 or 4:30 PM, right after school. I wasn't too excited about it either, but probably saw 90% of the episodes. Roeper and Mitchell(At The Movies who I referenced earlier) were fans of the show.

Not to overdue the Roeper-Phillips reviews but they thought the colors were dazzling. I might give this movie a chance.

You must have really liked it.

I was really impressed. The truth is that i didn't want to see it, just like most of you the commercial looked quite bland and corny. However for some reason i went with my little brother because he wanted to see it, and i have to say i am really glad i went.

I'm a sucker for a good movie and i have to say it was good. See with Ironman i expected something good, knowing the cast and the director as well as the whole concept behind the movie, i knew it would be good. I wasn't expecting much from Speed Racer though. Again i didn't like the cartoon so i didn't expect to really be into the movie, however i knew it had a good direction and a good cast.

I'm just glad i watched it. Its definitely going to be one of those great movies no one dares to see because they think its going to be corny or kiddie. The plot wasn't half that bad. That and the special effects as well as the cast kept me interested.

Personally i hope its sucky sales doesn't stop it from getting a sequel. This was just a horrible time to release the movie. Theres too many good movies coming out this month. We had Iron man, Narnia next week and Indiana Jones the following week. If this movie had come out about a month sooner, it would be doing great at the box office regardless of the commercials.

We had Iron man, Narnia next week and Indiana Jones the following week. If this movie had come out about a month sooner, it would be doing great at the box office regardless of the commercials.

It was virtually tied with What Happens In Vegas at $20 million, but Speed Racer had a $120 million budget while What Happens In Vegas only cost $35 million.
