The first time I really was blown away was when I saw Saving Private Ryan at the theater. I remember my knees being a bit weak when I left the theater and I was a little shook up from the whole experience. It was insane and still even after seeing it time and time again blows me away.

The movie used a crapload of animatronics thats why it was so awesome and also why the next two jurassic parks paled in comparison (they began to use more and more cgi)

Yep same. Remember the lines you had to wait in to see it. Also, E.T. was pretty cool too. Video would be the Thriller.

That's easy: The Empire Strikes Back. I was only a baby when Star Wars came out otherwise that would be #1 had I seen that in the theater.

I must say I thought Superman was real when I was younger. I really thought he was flying. Back to the Future 2 also stands out. Watching all the Star Wars as a kid stands out as well. I definately agree with JP being an awe inspiring movie, as well as Independence Day.

Lol, I remember the first time I saw an IGN video clip of Madden PS2 before the game came out... I must've played the same video over and over and over again...

But then I was blown away the first time I saw FMV intro video to NFL Gameday years before that. Floating helmets! (Man, I was suckered by anything FMV related back in the day. James Brown introducing the games in NHL 97... John Madden goin "Welcome to Madden NFL 97")

As for movies, Jurassic Park was one of the first movies that got me into my longtime interest in surround sound. DTS man. And all we had was Dolby Prologic sound at our house... I never thought it would get better than that. Boy was I wrong

I remember the first time I saw Raiders of the Lost Ark on VHS when I was like 5-6... The ghosts flying out and the melting faces at the end scared the CRAP out of me!

It was 1993. I was 16. First movie to come out in Dolby Surround Sound. To actually hear crashing trees behind you or Dinosaurs screeching next to you was incredible.

And the lifelike computer graphics of the dinosaurs blew EVERYONE away.
Jurassic Park's special effects still hold up today too. I bought the dvd a couple months ago and I expected it to look really dated but it looks good.

For video games definitely NFL 2k. I remember looking at it in a video game store and thinking that it was a real game.

If I went any bigger, it would not have properly fit with my equipment, so I had to optimize. I'm okay with it, but I also know what I'm missing with those five inches. :)

NFL 2k for consoles, Quake 3 for PC games. Those graphics blew me away.
