Can this include compilations or only albums?
Anywho
Frank Sinatra: The Capitol Years - A great 3 CD box set that goes through Sinatra's years with Capitol Records. You've got bouncy swing numbers and sad slow songs.
Bob Marley Legend - A great overview of Marley's work with the Wailers and while I easily get burned out listening to the CD I still come back to it from time to time. Bob was DA MAN!
MC hammer: Inside Out - This is a little known MC Hammer album as it was released well after he lost his "cool". Still for my money it was one of the more heartfelt albums i've heard from a modern day artist. The CD is worth is alone just for the song "I hope things change" which had a great mix of gospel flavour and emotion that made the song powerful to me.
Marvin Gaye: What's Going On - I've said so much about this album that there doesn't need to be anything said except i'll quote Marvin talking to Smokey Robinson about it "Smoke, This album wasn't done by me, it was done by God"
Marvin Gaye: Hear My Dear - One of the most depressing albums i've ever listened to. It's the vocal equivalent to his Trouble Man album. Even though this album is depressing as all hell it's still very beautiful and heartfelt. The song "Anger" has a sound that harkens back to his WGO days but the true masterpiece of the album IMO is "Sparrow" it's such a beautiful and loving song of internal peace for Marvin that's put smackdab into an album with so much bitterness and depressing statements about a marriage gone horribly wrong.
