    Are you going to pick up a wireless mouse or any accessories? I have the logitech V220 wireless USB mouse and love it.

      I'll probably end up picking up a wireless mouse and a bag sometime after I get it.

        Did you get a bluetooth adapter for the laptop? If you did, I recommend using the Logitech V470 mouse, which is very much like the V220 but you don't need the USB plug.

          I'll have that adapter but I have a really nice wired logitech i'll use when I use the laptop on a desk.

              Don't spend money on Microsoft Office. You can acquire that elsewhere.

                Is the 2.0ish GHZ processor good enough? Seems like the processor speed isn't as big a deal as it used to, with the dual core stuff.

                Thanks for this thread, I'll have to order one in the next month or two and I'll make sure to throw the specs your way beforehand!

                  To all you laptop heads, what's the difference between an AMD processor and an Intel?

                    2.0 is more than enough for what Odogg and Longhorn were looking for... watching dvds, schoolwork, etc. Just make sure you have plenty of RAM so you don't bottleneck yourself into having a slower computer than it's potential. 2-4 GB of it will do.

                    Basically it's the Coke and Pepsi of processors... both companies build their processors differently but they both pretty much do the same thing...
                    Back in the day AMD was like the NFL 2k5 to Intel's Madden... where an AMD processor was a bit cheaper for the equivalent speed to Intel's processor... but I believe things have leveled out a bit the past few years. Can't go wrong with either.

                      Yes that's plenty fast enough.

                        I can tell you from my experience:

                        AMD = freezing, random reboots and in general Hell on Earth
                        Intel = everything works right

                          Interesting. Are there any significant drawbacks to either? I've held back on buying some laptops because of the AMD processor, but I've never full-on done specific research. Which processor keeps cooler?

                            Dude, avoid AMD, and it's not just me and my experience, if you read up on it in PC magazines, right now Intel is the company to go with no question.

                              As for which is better, I'd have to go with Intel. It may be more expensive than the AMD processors, but in many CPU tests I've read online, the cooler chips tend to be ones made by Intel. Also, their chips also own AMD when it comes to battery life, which is really important for laptops.

                              I think that AMD is better for gaming, more specifically, hardcore gaming on desktop computers, as it is easier to overclock... but they've been known to be hotter... that's when the hardcore folks would rip out their CPU fans and replace them with water cooing technology... Of course, overclocked CPU's would sap more energy so it does kill more battery life anyway.

                                Thanks for the responses. Looks lke I'd be going Intel again if I got a laptop. Have the problems with Vista been sorted out yet?
