I'm not saying 50 was THE guy responsible for MAKING Game. Sure with Dre he probably becomes MORE known out West than he already is, but without 50, the only game we know about out East is the Hip Hop Game itself.

Because the hooks were fiyah and were a main reason his songs were successful. That and Dre's production. Not so much The Game himself.

That has nothing to do how Game got into G-Unit.

Because the hooks were fiyah and were a main reason his songs were successful. That and Dre's production. Not so much The Game himself.

Fly, you're my man and everything, but if that's really true, how come with No Dre, no 50, no Eminem, no G-Unit, no Aftermath, Game still pushed units (Doctor's Advocate debuted at number one, was platinum in the U.S., and triple platinum world wide). If it was just 50's hooks and Dre's beats that made the Game, then taking them away means that Game goes double wood, right? Yet, you take them away, and he still made a great album and sold units. Makes no sense. Randy or Fly explain it to me.

50 had 2 hit songs, Hate it or Love it and How We Do. Now, he could have put those on The Massacre or he could have given them to one of his people in G-Unit. Game happened to be the one lucky enough to have not released an album yet. The songs would have been just as successful with Buck or Banks doing Game's parts. 50 had absolutely everything to do with the success of Game.

With minimal hype, he had his first 2 singles reach #4 and #2.

With a ton of hype, his next 5 singles got to 32, not charting, 71, 46, and 64.

Now, I'll give you 2 guesses about the difference between group 1 and group 2.

Yeah the hook was half assed, Travis killed it on the drums. That track with Nas was awesome, but my fav from D.A. are Compton and Bang, DPG killed it.

50 was just another underground rapper before he got with Interscope and started dissing Ja-Rule. Snoop Dogg could've never gotten exposure if it wasn't for Dr. Dre. It isn't like this is an uncommon occurance.

I see some major differences between Snoop and Game. First, didn't Snoop write most of The Chronic? Second, Snoop has several top 10 hit songs that don't feature Dre. While Dre's production was key, Snoop was more of a draw rap wise on the singles as Dre was. You can't put another rapper on those songs and still have a hit. You can with 50's songs. Then, most importantly, Snoop didn't spend the last several years dissing Dr Dre.

Game could have certainly gotten exposure eventually, but he can't write a single for ****. It's impossible to deny that the vast majority of Game's popularity is due to How We Do/Hate it or Love it and then his subsequent 50 bashing.

Of 50's major songs, I don't think any feature another person aside from 21 Questions and Candy Shop, though Candy Shop easily could have been solo. 50 and Snoop were helped by hooking up with Dre. Game needed to hook up with 50 to become mainstream.

Well, here's my little Game "story" for what it's worth:

A guy I grew up w/ in East Oakland claims to know Game quite well, and somehow they had a dispute a few years back. This guy I know is pretty rough (in fact we were real good friends up until junior high when he decided to grind full time) but tries to "produce" local artists in a little studio he put together. A few years back when I was visiting back home, I ran into this guy and he asked me real coyly if I liked Game and my response was like, "sure, why not." Then this guy went on a tirade about how Game was a punk and how Game got ran out of his neighborhood in the LA area by a certain "gang." He then went on to tell me that Game came up to Oakland and tried to get in with the Luniz (a few years back) but was basically rejected. He talked about Game dying his hair blond, going on model shoots for magazines and basically trying anything he could to get famous. Of course I had no idea (or really cared) about of all that stuff but this "old friend" of mine really got his jollies off suckering me into this "do you like Game" question and then telling me what a punk the dude was. He had me listen to this Luniz CD where they clowning Game and ev'thing. He seemed pretty bitter so I took his multiple anti-game stories with a grain of salt but after that I never really looked at Game the same.

In the end, I'm not a gangsta so I really am not mad at the Game if he dyed his hair or whatever. But I can see how guys from the streets can be mad at him (especially if he burned them). Still, I don't know how easy it is to go around claiming "certain gangs" and get away w/ it if u are not really from that gang. Maybe it's real easy. I dunno, gang/street life in Oakland is a lot different from SoCal. Our's is more like what you see on The Wire. There are no "colors" in Oakland.
