            Agreed.

I still get goosebumps when I watch their playoff games from last season.

But yea...Soccer crowds though...one word to describe them...AMAZING

Re: What Is The Best Sound In Sports?

Can't go with the roar of the crowd because pretty much every non-pro/college game is played without one. I don't limit "sports" only to what I watch on TV.

I voted for crack of the bat even though basketball is my favorite sport. I do like 3A's answer of sneakers squeaking on basketball court, that is probably my favorite basketball sound. It's great walking into a hot, sweaty gym in the summer leagues and hearing that noise, lets you know it's on baby!

It's very rare too and might not even happen during a game to hear a really good crack.
I agree. The sound is just something else.

Anyways for me it's the crowd during a really good football (NFL/CFL/NCAA) game.
It's not guaranteed success but if someone truly connects with a pitch it's not going to be a pop up. That's not a solid hit.

I'm talking about just a frozen rope somewhere or an absolute bomb.

A "great crack" is not defined as a routine out.

The crack of the bat is SLIGHTLY in the lead.
I'm glad this topic caught on, I figured with so many different views people have on sports something as simple as a sound could spark debate.

Re: What Is The Best Sound In Sports?

Hard question... The crack of the bat when you know that the ball isn't going to stop is amazing, but same with a good hard football hit. Not a big fan of basketball, so the swish doesn't do much for me.

I'm gonna go with the sound of the crowd when you're at the game. Nothing like the roar of the crowd when LT breaks free and has no one between him and the end zone.

Sneakers squeaking, nets swishing, the echo of a ball bouncing in an empty gym, the rattle of a backboard after a dunk. There's such a connection between the ball, the hardwood, and the hoop that basketball has the best sounds out of any sport, in my opinion.

The "BOOM!" sound a college basketball crowd makes during a big breakaway dunk. Especially if it's one that pretty much finishes off the game. Or when a home team is on a run, gets a big defensive stop and pulls up for a transition 3-pointer on the other end. That building "Threeeee" sound and the roar after it goes in gives me chills every time. Unless State is the visiting team...

The ball bouncing on the court is a very underrated sound.
