If I went any bigger, it would not have properly fit with my equipment, so I had to optimize. I'm okay with it, but I also know what I'm missing with those five inches. :) -
Re: Plasma vs LCD
72" for only $2469? Have prices fallen that much? I probably shouldn't say "only" as that's a lot of money to some people, but I expected 72" to be around $5000-$6000. I know it was 3 years ago, but the 46" I got then was about $2000 + $400 for a stand.I'll be buying another Samsung DLP in a month or so when I start my new job. This time i'm going with a 72" from Vanns. com for $2469. I can't wait, I know how much I've loved my 50" Samsung and this one will be 22" larger.
With that said, I'd need to buy a bigger house to fit a 72" TV into (new house will happen in 2-3 years after the wedding). I'd be sitting way too close to that thing and would end up going crazy.
50" is about perfect in the room I have my TV - and I do wish I got the 50" over the 46" back then!

I couldn't imagine a TV bigger than 47" in my room, plus I can't hang that TV above my fireplace72" for only $2469? Have prices fallen that much? It's all on room size for TV's. If you have a large room, then a 72" will look awesome, but if you have a small room, then it'll just look bad IMO.
And yes, DLP has really dropped in price. A 50" runs like $1200 now. CC sells that 72" by my house for $2200.Comment

Re: Plasma vs LCD
I had a 65" TV at one time, that thing was a monster. I can't imagine having a 72" TV, it'd be nice if the room can handle it. When I went plasma I dropped to 58" and I must admit at first I was missing the 7" drop, but plasmas are so pretty.
jmood, the 1080p/720p debate all comes down to the size of TV you get. I don't know what size you are getting, but 42" and up, I'd get someone at a store to put in a Blu-ray for you on the TV and let your eyes decide.

I've never been a fan of the Olevia TVs I've seen, but I definitely wouldn't get one now because it appears they have gone bankrupt:

Re: Plasma vs LCD
I posted a few initial impressions in my thread. Vanns is pretty good on pricing. Free shipping and no sales tax sealed my business. The shipping surprised me though. It came Yellow Freight, and the driver that came to my house used to deliver to a warehouse I worked at. He was all about having a long conversation with me, and the whole time I was just trying to rush inside and hook the bad boy up. Anyway, I'm loving the TV, and would definitely recommend Panasonic plasmas to anyone. So you went with Vann's and the Panny huh?

Re: Plasma vs LCD
They make a solid LCD, but they only make them up to 32".
Everything above 32" is a plasma for Panasonic.Comment
