I agree. The Recession was fire. I remember listening to My President constantly. So much so I ended up ruining the song for myself and had to stop listening to it, lol. I think I might get around to downloading it again.

Speaking of albums, that Top 10 albums of 2010 thread reminded me I still haven't listened to a few this year. Were the Rick Ross, Bun B and Lloyd Banks albums (might be forgetting a couple others) worth listening to?
I really really liked the rick ross album. not one song I don't like.

bun b's and lloyd bank each have like 5 or 6 songs that I like each, not worth downloading the whole albums and just find out which singles you like and get those

Re: Official Hip Hop/Rap Music Thread

Ross' mixtape was wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy better than the album IMO and that should've been his album instead of Teflon Don, which I thought sucked BTW.

I thought Bun's was surprisingly good but that may have been due to me having low expectations for him anyway. Banks CD was pretty good as well, definitely his best work since Hunger for More.

Posted this in the other thread but I figure I'll post it here as well:

      No particular order:

Kanye West-Dark and Twisted Fantasy(hate the name but love the album)
      Cee-Lo: The Lady Killers
      Big Boi: SLLF
      Eminem: Recovery
      Wale: More About Nothing
Young Jeezy: Trap or Die II
      Ne-Yo: Libra Scale
Nas and Damian Marley: Distant Relatives
      J. Cole: Friday Night Lights

      Honorable Mention:
      Drake- Sincerely Yours
      Jadakiss-Champ Is Here 3
The 10 I chose I felt that there isn't a CD/Mixtape that came out this year better than the ones I chose either from a production or lyric standpoint or both.

As for the Recession: It's definitely worth a D/L but what Jeezy album/mixtape isn't. I still bump Can't Ban The Snowman and Trap or Die I on the regular every now and then lol.

One album I was disappointed in was Luda's Battle of the Sexes. Dude usually puts out good albums but aside from Sex Room and Everybody Drunk and Party No Mo, I hate to say this about a Luda CD(because he's one of my favorite rappers)it was horrible.

Listening to the first few tracks of this Banks album on Youtube and I see Mr. Yayo continues his track ruining ways. SMH.

EDIT: Just finished listening to the Banks album. Decent, but there wasn't really any standout tracks. Well, Beamer, Benz or Bentley of course but I've been hearing that for a long time now. Aside from that, most of the songs are good, but not great. Kinda reminds me of 50's Before I Self Destruct.

IMO, Banks has been on fire recently. 5 or 6 good songs (like on HFM2) on a rap album is above average. Unexplainable, Father time and Start it up are my favorite tracks from the album. There are a bunch of good tracks he put out that didn't end up on the album.

I recommend checking out "make money," "large on the streets," "where i'm at ft eminem," which was an itunes bonus track and "this is the life," a bonus track from the FYE version.

Elzhi. The most technical, complex lyricist around right now. People say he's like Lupe, but I think he's better than Lupe. A lot of people compare him Nas in his prime. Talented artist, how many know him?

                  Really?

After further review I'm thinking it might be his worst album

No mercy is alright at best, a few songs that I like but that's it. When is this guy gonna grow as an artist?

Dr. Dre say's he love J. Cole and they worked together recently

"Just recentley, actually, I’ve heard some really good artists. I’m a fan of J. Cole. I like Don Trip. Those two I was actually in this studio working with recently, and I really like their vibe. Especially J. Cole. I think that kid has a serious future ahead of him. He’s articulate. The way he speaks is – he’s got it. All he needs is the record now"

Yeah I heard Dre giving props to Cole on some radio show a few weeks back. You know you're putting out good **** when you got a legend co-signing you like Dre is.

I listened to the Ross album last night. IDK but I'm just not that much of a fan. Lyrically he's decent at best and what's with this little barking thing he's got going on now? So annoying. I actually think his last album was a lot better than this one.

                            I did too.

Port of Miami was like that too but after that, it went downhill for the "South Beach Version of Suge Knight"(LOL)as he calls himself.

Trilla was his best album. I just keep listening to the first 6 tracks on TD because they just go too hard. Especially Live Fast, Die Young and Tears of Joy. He's putting his mark on the game, believe it or not.
