Well I still do really like most of what Kanye did on MBDTF. I don't think anybody else could have made an album like that. IMO he bent the rules on the sound of hip-hop.

I'm just hoping that for the next album he goes through with the Good *** Job idea that MBDTF was supposed to be. I doubt he will go back to that soulful style, because I feel like most artists are stubborn in that they don't want to go back to what they used to do, I guess because it isn't a progression or something but I don't know. Still gonna hold out hope that down the line we can get more songs like The Joy or something similar.

If you want to disagree, that's fine. I knew I was gonna take heat for saying that anyways.

But really, what rapper has used full orchestras before Kanye? What other producer or artist would be able to make an album that sounds like MBDTF does?

Maybe not rules, but there was a guideline I guess for how something had to sound. That's what I was trying to say.

There was never really a "guideline" per se on how Hip Hop had to sound.

What guideline? It doesn't sound any different or special compared to other things I have heard and in fact sounds worse than what listen to. Look up Kyteman from the Netherlands. He is a conductor/trumpeter/producer who uses a full orchestra not only for his album but he does shows with one. There are others but I just happened to be playing one of his songs when I saw this post.

Decent Lupe interview here. A lot of info on L.A.S.E.R.S. (2 more months!) and he drops a freestyle. The girl in the interview annoyed me though.

The L.A.S.E.R.S. news for those that don't feel like clicking links:

LASERS News: Alex Da Kid produced the next single "Words I Never Said," there's a song on Lasers called "All Black Everything" that's one of Lupe's all time favorite tracks and his collabo with Sway is called "Break The Chain."

Sarah Green is on the album, he worked with Trey Songz and John Legend and there are productions by The Neptunes, The Buchanans, Soundtrakk, Alex Da Kid, King David, Kane Beatz, Needlz and 1500 or Nothin'. Lupe said he worked with all of those people but they might not all end up on the album.
Also not mentioned above is that the album is 12 tracks.
