Alot of times a wack beat will cloud good lyrics. Exactly with 2 Chainz. If the beat is hot, the song is listenable. Heck, I still listen to One Day At a Time feat Jadakiss because I like the beat.
And the one thing that is worst than a wack beat is an over produced beat.

The simplest beats are usually the hottest. There are tons of examples.

Most of everything sounds good when you're high as a space moutain when selecting beats. When you got 4 talented MCs in the room, a quick freestyle is all it takes. Me thinks this is how the slaughterhouse album was made.

I don't know if this has been discussed earlier in the thread, but I was wondering who your guy's favorite rapper(s) are?

        For me?

        #1-Big L

Big L is my clear number 1, but then after him some of my favorites are:

Big Pun, Vinnie Paz, Biggie, Celph Titled, Method Man, Pharoahe Monch, Gang Starr
        Chicago Bulls
        Chicago Bears
        Wisconsin Badgers

MF Doom, Sean Price and Redman.

Some other guys are up there, but when it comes down to it I always come back to those three at some point.

If you're addressing me saying Big L is the punch line king, I never said that there weren't others that were good (like Celph Titled IMO), I just think Big L is the best.

I respect his earlier music. He was nice. It took me quite a long while to get used to his voice though.

Bastard was as good as it gets for him; he took you into the mind of an awkward, depressed teenager. I'd never heard anything like it before.

Maybe it's not selling out. Maybe it's just the fact that his life has changed for the better, but he's moving away from what brought him his fanbase.
Tyler has always, and in my opinion will always, rapped about whatever he wants. Can't really "sell out" when you never established yourself in a genre. He even says that he isn't just horror core. Loved Bastard, loved Goblin, and all he's doing in those 2 albums is being himself and rapping about stuff, sometimes random stuff. Often times random stuff. Now if he did what you're suggesting, then he'd be selling out. You don't sell out by going from a horror core rapper to a pop rapper, you sell out by being you, then being labeled as something, and deciding to run with that to prolong you're career.

And on the Earl situation, he legitimately needed to go to Samoa before he did some reckless ****. You can tell he was really starting to blur the lines between music and reality. Now he's back and he still raps about crazy stuff, it's just not all rape and murder.

                        Childish Gambino.

I had forgot Corey Gunz existed too. Mickey Factz fell off after that ****ty Me>You mixtape.

Now that I think of that whole XXL Freshman 09 kind of fell off the face of the earth except Wale and Curren$y.
