Just a year ago, Cole was loved by damn near everyone on here and now people don't mess with him. I guess that's what happens when you go mainstream because the samething happened with Wale, it's happening to Meek, now happening with J.Cole and it'll probably happen to Kendrick as well, the more he blows up.

Re: Official Hip Hop/Rap Music Thread
I've been an admitted J. Cole ***** since day one. My posting history here can attest to that.

Re: Official Hip Hop/Rap Music Thread
Yeah, aero's never been a Cole fan.
Admittedly I can understand the reasons for not liking him. I can see how he can come off as boring and yeah he uses some weak *** puns/punchlines/whatever ("Cole heatin' up like that leftover lasagna" nearly ruins Nobody's Perfect for me) but I don't know, something about his music just gets along really well with my ears I guess because I find it hard to skip over just about any of his songs. I don't have 131 Cole songs in my iTunes library just for the hell of it.

Re: Official Hip Hop/Rap Music Thread
I actually hated J.Cole when he was underground.
Now that he's mainstream and getting quality production, I gave him a second chance and I enjoy him.
In fact it made me go back and appreciate his old stuff.
Wale, just changed all together. Like, he's a completely different rapper. Biggest definition of the word sellout. However, I still bump Attention: Deficit, 100 Miles and Runnin, Mixtape About Nothing and More About Nothing on a regular basis.
I never really felt Meek that much. Good for the occasional hype song that made me want to punt a small child, other than that, not so much.
Kendrick is different because he has quality control. Don't see him going too "mainstream" but I could be wrong.Cubs | Bulls | Dolphins | 'Noles

Re: Official Hip Hop/Rap Music Thread
Wale is what every underground hip-hop fan fears when they hear that their favorite artist has signed to a major label. It's really quite amazing how fast he has changed.Originally posted by BlzerLet me assure you that I am a huge proponent of size, and it greatly matters. Don't ever let anyone tell you otherwise.

Re: Official Hip Hop/Rap Music Thread
I never checked for Wale's music in the past. Heard a couple songs and stopped paying attention. Same goes for Meek Mill.Comment

Ya'll know those were just examples to go along with the point I was making, right?
Basically, when you're Underground, then you're underrated but when you go mainstream then you're overrated.

Plus, he came out with like 3 singles that proves he still raps about the stuff he's been rapping about since Day 1

He used to have like a poetry type of style that you could just jam to, like the mix tape "More about Nothing"
Than that ambition album was a straight sellout.
You're right about the beats too.. they're horrible.

Re: Official Hip Hop/Rap Music Thread
Its crazy cause he barely hit the mainstream business. What song was it again? Workout... that's it ... how else is he suppose to get paid?
