Re: Official Hip Hop/Rap Music Thread

I feel what you are saying man...and I kind of despise 2DB and all the blogs, but like it or not they are controlling whos hot and whos not at this point.

I go to the front page a second ago and see this dude...dressed like a hipster (a hip hop hipster maybe?) and completely average rapper not worth listening to.

    <object width="500" height="311"><param name="movie" value="http://videos.onsmash.com/e/bTtx8gsVgNWRSC3p"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://videos.onsmash.com/e/bTtx8gsVgNWRSC3p" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="500" height="311"></embed></object>

I don't have a problem with the way anyone dresses. I wear normal fitting clothes LOL. I'm just irked that anyone and everyone who goes into a professional studio and lays down a track, dresses up a little bit and makes a small connection is being promo'd when there are way more deserving peeps (check the dude I posted the zshares and youtubes of).

And I personally would call those Mac Miller videos professional. He's got some obvious well shot footage, well put together, with a sharp camera. Maybe not made for TV professional but made for the blogs.

I don't know...final thoughts...the rap game is ridiculously over crowded right now. Everyone wants to find the next big rapper to come from the blogs so there is SO much no-better than average bullcrap being posted every single day, umpeet mixtapes dropping, rappers putting out a wack mixtape per month, etc. I can't stand it anymore.

don't worry NC State... these guys will disappear as fast as they've appeared. Even though sheeple run wild in this world, nobody tacks on to a copy-cat for very long. People will bite on this guy for this one second because he is following the "tried and true" formula... but at days end, without originality, he'll never stand the test of time.

Whoever invented hipster (from Kanye to Kid Cudi on a more in your face level) is still standing strong, while the copy-cat emcees vanish quick.

He is horrible. I don't know why he has any hype at all cause he isn't good and his voice is annoying as hell.

If I went any bigger, it would not have properly fit with my equipment, so I had to optimize. I'm okay with it, but I also know what I'm missing with those five inches. :)

Re: Official Hip Hop/Rap Music Thread

The thing is, none of those dudes (The guy just posted, Kudi and Kanye)

Do not look anything close to Mac Miller or even Wiz Khalifa...

I would hardly say those guys are "copy'n"

Mac Miller/Wiz are more skate boardish than "educated" while at the same time look nothing like Pharell....

exactly what rapper right now is copying off of someone who is wack and doesnt deserve more shine than the guy NC just posted a page ago? (IMO, dude can get just as much shine as Mac if he actually had a marketing plan; he's pretty average too btw)

There are only a few rappers who are "hott" right now (as far as hype) and one of them is Rick Ross and he looks nothing like anyone

You guys are basing "hyped" of a artist based on him getting promo'd on a "hipster" website/blog...

Thats like a OS member saying sim gamers are the majority

I see what you did there. In all honesty though, this thread welcomes all forms from what I can see.

No matter how you twist it, there is no sub genre...

Hip Hop is the culture, Rap is the music...

Underground isnt a sub genre, just like how mainstream isnt a sub genre...

Apparently a radio station played it

Initial reactions are that it was pretty good, however people were just posting random comments so I can't confirm what happened.

I guess it's pretty cool not really sure how to feel about it

Mac Miller on the front page of 2dopeboyz again today...ARGHHHHHhh@@!!!!!ONE!!

Promoting some project he has coming soon...

I'm about 1.5 more Mac Miller videos/hearing this "Big Meech" bull*** on the radio (literally, it was the number 2 spot on my local stations top5 of the day yesterday) from going postal on some executives

I got no problem with mainstream rap, but at least have some freaking rhythm, a decent voice, and an ounce of talent that differentiates you from a random guy off the street reading lyrics...please
