I've been out of "the loop" for a good bit. Aside from El-P and Killer Mike, what else has been good the past year or two?

I know there was a Wu-Tang/D-Block collab joint that dropped about a month or so ago but I never checked it out to see how it was.#RespectTheCultureComment

Re: Official Hip Hop/Rap Music Thread
Based from your favorite producer list, I'd recommend the following to get you started...
Action Bronson – Dr. Lecter
Murs & Ski Beatz – Love & Rockets Vol.1 : The Transformation
Oddisee - People Hear What They See
The Roots – Undun
Phonte – Charity Starts At Home
eLZhi - Elmatic
CunninLynguists – Oneirology
My list covering a 2 year period would be too damn long. lol
That was actually a bootleg. The real project comes out October 9th.Comment

Murs is still kicking around? The last time I listened to him was Murs For President.

Whatever you do, don't listen to the Murs/Terrace Martin album. That thing is pure trash.Originally posted by BlzerLet me assure you that I am a huge proponent of size, and it greatly matters. Don't ever let anyone tell you otherwise.
If I went any bigger, it would not have properly fit with my equipment, so I had to optimize. I'm okay with it, but I also know what I'm missing with those five inches. :)Comment

I think the correct term would "songwriter, beatmaker, composer" because technically Diddy is a producer and he would be at the top of my list along with Dre it we was going by technically
But damn I like too many to only name 5. From samplers to non samplers.
I'll say Jus Blaze, Ski Beatz, RZA, DJ Toomb, Primo, Dilla, Kanye are guys who stand out to me the most but I can really go on and on. Too many unique guys like Alchemist out there to only name 5Comment

If making music was a 9-5 job, a producer would be the supervisor.
Guys like Lex Luger who send out beats (I dont know what he's doing now) are really not producers as they was never at the session. Techically, Kanye was the producer of HAM and Lex was a songwriter like Jay and Kanye.Comment
