Knowing the way the last two "volumes" have gone it's likely we'll be led to believe he can only hold one at a time for three or four more episodes, and then BOOM!, all of a sudden he knows all of them at once when the writers decide to go in another direction.

I really liked the first episode of the new volume.

I have some questions though... You guys are talking about Peter only controlling one power at a time, where was that stated or what led you to that conclusion?

Also, why all of a sudden does he have Pappa P's ability, but no longer has his own ability to absorb powers by being in close proximity. I thought daddy took his powers, then he got them back by using that serum (which supposedly unlocks a person's "ability", thus he should have gotten his old one back). But they made it a point to show that Peter now gets powers only through contact. I wonder if he can take them like his daddy could as well. If so, then he will be even more powerful.

The only time he used flight was right after getting it from his brother. The only time he used strength was right when he got it from Suresh. After he got the strength from Suresh, he then got the freezing ability and was getting his *** kicked (which you'd think wouldn't happen if he still had super strength), but he was able to use the freezing ability. We've never seen him use more than one power at a time (unless I just missed it, which is entirely possible).

It would be much more badass if he did keep powers permanently, so hopefully it's just a coincidence.

Exactly. As soon as he touched Niki and got her freeze powers, he lost his strength and was getting beat up. As of right now, Peter only has the ability to absorb one power at a time.

I thought the first episode was average. It's certainly setting up an X-Men type of mutant persecution which will be interesting. But I am getting annoyed by how cavalier the writing team is with removing or giving powers to people. It's way too easy and happens way too often for my liking right now.

I really don't care how much the character's "develop". Sure it might be nice but I just want them to be interesting. Those two aren't necessarily the same. Some characters like Hiro and Claire are no longer interesting right now and are getting annoying. HRG will always be cool even if he never changes.

Heck, I wouldn't mind if they just copied X-Men type stories. Just stop resetting the characters so damn much. It's a cop-out way to put some characters in a dilemma 'cause they've become "too powerful." And at this point, I certainly think I could do without the painting the future thing. For once, it'd be nice not to know what the heck the future holds.

We don't know yet because they haven't shown anyone else doing anything, but what if Peter actually does have Papa P's powers and he is actually taking away everyone else's powers without knowing it?

It is funny that HRG is the coolest character on the show and he has never even had a power. Either good acting or they just haven't screwed with his character like they have everyone else.

I'm assuming he's not taking them, just because that would mean he took his brother's ability to fly, and it seems like that would have come up.

Now THAT was a good episode. I know this show has the people to make a great hour of television... glad to see them do it.

Love see Claire's father involved in everything. I bet he is "undercover" though.

Random point of interest, but mainly random...

In episode 2 of season 1, when Peter is in the hospital he draws the Pinehurst sign in the upper corner of a picture he is drawing.

The same symbol also shows up in one of Isaac Mendez' paintings in the very same episode.

And in the same episode, it is also on a yellow post-in note on Suresh's father's map. Also, when Suresh plugs in the portable harddrive his father left behind and the code is scrolling across the screen, you can clearly see the Pinehurst logo inside the code.

Maybe the writers actually do have a plan.
