I didn't like seeing Daphne die off like that. It seemed like they just brushed her underneath the rug.

Worst...death...ever.

Really, she got shot, had a poorly acted "oh, I'm dead" head roll, and yet I thought she was still kicking...just captured. And then Parkman has a "I want retribution" line that was delivered pretty dead pan.

It was cool that he made the soldiers kill each other, though I still hate his "future art" power. Where did that even come from?

EDIT: And if they are heading for the future where Ando kills Hiro, what about the future with Parkman and Daphne raising Molly? And what about Maya and Micah in New Orleans?

I second that thing about the future art power. To me, it just cheapens the events when they happen and Parkman so far hasn't been able to prevent any of his drawings even though he's tried. The mind control power has a lot of potential though, finally gives him offensive powers but the future art is just a cheap plot device that doesn't work that well, IMO.

Overall was a good episode. Definitely moving in the right direction. Sylar still is the highlight of the show. Oh, I didn't like the whole texting sequence between Claire and Rebel. Just seems dumb to text "I'm scared." in any situation but especially when you were just questioning who that person was.

And it seems they've abandoned at least the Parkman-Daphne-Molly future for now. We'll see if that was intentional or if it'll be swept under the rug unaddressed.

I don't think Daphne is dead. Looks like she was hit more in the side of her body than anything else.

The future is never set in stone. The future that had Ando kill Hiro may or may not even exist anymore so I'm not worried about that stuff.

Is Daphne really dead? I'm still holding out hope she's alive. I do like the Sylar angle right now.

Overall I think the first two episodes have been OK but I haven't loved them either. Maybe it's the lack of mystery as to what is going on but I'm just not into it. I liked the fall's episodes better so far although I should say I liked them more as time went on as well.

I think Heroes is in trouble. Monday night at 9 pm is clearly not working well. CBS comedies (12-13 million this past Monday) are winning and the Bachelor (11 mil) and 24 (9 mil) are both spanking Heroes (7 mil). For a show this expensive to finish fourth in its time slot is not good.

Maybe, but Parkman seemed pretty convinced and he would've tried to get her to safety if he thought she was possibly alive. You may be right but that's a weak way to keep her alive, the way it was presented on TV.

That's funny you bring that up... I was wondering where some of the stuff is coming from. They've all but ignored Nicky now that she is "dead" and Micah is out of the picture completely.

It's almost as if these powers come out of nowhere and the characters are pros at them immediately. Peter and Sylar are still the two best characters in the way they are developed on this show. Peter's new "one power at a time" thing works very well... and you can see him struggle with it and not understand it fully.

Parkman got the "future power" when he was on his spirit walk in India. The Pre-Cog down there taught him how to use it, and if you notice the only times he ever uses it are when he is having "visions" of the Pre-Cog.

Parkman doesn't control it, though. It just happens when the Pre-Cog feels Parkman needs some guidance, it seems.

I'm pretty sure guys know "literally" where he got it from. The point is... how? People can just give each other powers now? All it takes is a spirit walk?

C'mon... that's unbelievably weak. Even for a TV show about people with super abilities.

I agree. These powers are supposed to be special. I don't like how Ando got his powers or how easy it is for people to get and/or lose powers. I don't want a simple trick or chemical experiment to produce this. This was supposed to be a genetic evolution within a person and not everyone can do it.

At least explain that he needs his turtle friend around or something to use the power, not some random vision from a dead dude.

I'm just getting frustrated. The show seems to go in so many directions, loops, and doesn't really know where it's going. I now hear all this talk of "oh wait, Bryan Fuller comes back in the fifth episode...THEN it will get good".

That's the point...we're not supposed to know how. All we know is exactly what Parkman knows, he has a vision of the Pre Cog and suddenly he can paint. He doesn't control it, he doesn't know why or how he can paint the future, just as we don't know the answers to any of those questions. It's how the show has always been, we pretty much only know what the characters know about their powers. We have ideas about what they do, we have ideas about their controls and their limits but until they actually say it (For example, Peter admitting that he could only control one power - we all had a feeling that is what it was, but until he let us in on it we had no concrete knowledge).


I don't know, maybe it's just me, but people seem to be too...antsy with TV shows these days. They need instant answers, they need explanations for every little thing. I just watch to enjoy the show, not to analyze and get frustrated/annoyed about every little thing. If the show annoys you that much, maybe it's time to just stop watching? I know I wouldn't want to keep wasting an hour every week watching a show that frustrated me. This obviously isn't a shot at anyone, just something I've noticed in the TV show threads that pop up on this site. It's one of the main reasons I keep out of them.

As I said before...the writers won't come out and explain anything like that to us until it gets explained to Parkman or until Parkman figures it out. They rarely...if ever, I can't really remember if there has ever been an instance un-related to a company file or a file from Suresh that we knew about a person's powers before it was shown to us by them or explained to us by them.

When the characters questions themselves, that's exactly what people would do in those situations. They give the story a sense of realism (again, as credible as one about people with special abilities can be).

I personally don't need answers right away. I watch Lost and with all the questions that arise, I do realize that they will be revealed later on down the road... but that's why I watch the show. To me, Heroes isn't more of a mystery drama than it is complete mush of characters and their happenings. Some are just better developed than others and it shows, at least me, in a very obvious manner.

Think about it... no one here has really gone on and said "C'mon that thing with Peter is ridiculous" b/c of how they develop the story. But they do it with others.

Perhaps it's a testament to the actors.

Like I said, it really isn't about anyone particular. I know you watch LOST so I certainly don't think you need answers right away (anyone that watches that show as I do can't want answers right away or they'd go crazy) but it just reminded me of conversations my friends and I have had while watching Heroes. They need all this explanation, all these answers and such and it's like...other than a few things here or there, Heroes has explained most of the things. The explanations haven't always been good, believable or what we want, but most of the time they are there.

I definitely agree with the fact that some characters are better developed than others. Sylar and Noah are definitely the best developed and Peter would be if the writers could ever settle on one thing for him. He was awesome in season 1 when he was coming to grips with his powers, so hopefully it will be more of that with him learning and mastering how to use and control the one power at a time thing.


Sans Sylar, Peter and HRG, I would definitely put the acting on LOST far and away above that of Heroes. Other than those three, I can't think of another person I would say is a good actor. Hiro has his moments, as does a character like Parkman, but they're just not consistent enough for me to consider them anywhere close. Don't get me started on Niki/Traci/Jessica or Claire, or Nathan or Ando, or anyone else. They're all pretty bad in their own way.

I understand what you mean about "being antsy" but I'm still an avid follower of LOST and now Fringe, two shows light years more complicated than Heroes. The thing I don't like, and what killed Grey's Anatomy (a bad comparison likely) is that the characters never really grow. It's just an eternal circle of one dimensional-ness about everyone...how many times has Claire trusted/not trusted her dad, want to help, go back home, want to help, rinse repeat. Or naive trusting Peter being betrayed, or Hiro wanting to, well, "be a hero".

Nothing changes, and that's where I get frustrated.

We still watch though. I guess that means something.
