    Entire Movie in First Person???

Who doesn't want one???? Watching Doom again for the second time, and it got to the first person part. Wouldn't it be an interesting concept if its well done? It would probably have to be for a mystery/ drama film because too much moving around and running in first person gets nauseating.

A good director should attempt it. The person that comes to my mind is Christopher Nolan. No its not because of Batman, but more so because of Memento. It was the first movie i have ever seen that played out completely backwards. If he can make that work, then maybe he can do it for a First Person movie as well

Cloverfield was pretty much shot in first person.

I understand what you mean, but i take that as more of a cam job then a first person movie, however it did get you in the seat of the main characters. I was thinking of something more along the lines of a real first person movie, completely shot as the viewer looking through the eyes of the main character.

If any one has seen Being John Malkovich, the segment where they first become John is a good example of this.

I haven't seen Cloverfield but there was one classic era Hollywood film that was shot ENTIRELY in first person, 1947's Lady in the Lake which was a Philip Marlowe mystery movie.

It was pretty good but I felt the whole first person aspect was a little on the gimmicky side.

Exactly. If you take Cloverfield and make it third person (musical score during scenes, slow-motion shots and different angles for the same shot, us knowing more than the main characters, etc.), it's a bland movie. Matt Reeves and J.J. Abrams did a lot right with the movie IMO, it was just too short.

I don't think it should become mainstream at all, though. Only a few select movies should be doing this, and the only ones that come to mind that have successfully done it are Cloverfield and Blair Witch Project.

Of course, if you're referring to "first person" as in Being John Malkovich or the beginning of Crank, where it's actually going into the person's mind and seeing out of their eyes, etc... then that's a different story. I suppose that could be done, but I couldn't imagine doing that for an entire movie. It would be a bitch to shoot, that's for sure.

That would be a terrible movie.

It's a nice concept but I don't think it would work in film.

Interesting concept I think not seeing the main character in a film would be weird. Bioshock is entirely in first person including cut scenes, I wonder if there consider it for the possible movie project.

It was a "neat" idea in Doom, but it could only last for so long.

You'd almost have to have a 160 deg. screen with faded/blurred edges to simulate peripheral vision. Otherwise, I would imagine you'd be looking at it like a FPS or such.

They would probably go the fish-eye lens route, but I'm sure they would do some crazy things on the corners with blurring or blackness or whatnot.

There's a movie starring Vincent D'onofrio called Guy. I think it was an Indie movie or something. Low budget. Very good and intriguing. It's a woman filmmaker looking for a subject to film for days and night. All in first person. Through a cam, though...but still.
