Chris Russo leaving WFAN (NY related)

Mike and the....well, not the Mad Dog anymore. It's a shame. For as much as people like to call them out on how pompous or abrasive they can be, they are my favorite sports talk show and really, the only sports talk aside from PTI that I can stand.

Russo is on his way to Sirius supposedly, so I'll catch him there...
The line must be drawn HERE! This far, no further!

At least on Sat. radio he'll be able to really let it rip. As little as i've seen/heard from him he strikes me as a bit of a pompous guy BUT he knows his sports unlike his now former partner.

I don't think I'll really listen to either of them. Mike is too boring and too arrogant. Russo isn't that knowledgeable. Together they are great, but separate not so much.

I guess Mike made his move to remove the Angry Puppy. Mike is impossible to listen to when he is alone. Unchecked he is pompous, arrogant, thinks he knows it all and he always tries to not admit he is wrong.

I don't like Dog either. He has the same insufferable attitude as Mike, but if you make him look bad or he is wrong he will at least admit he is a buffon.

It's actually the other way around... Francesa is by far more knowledgeable out of the two, and is also by far the more pompous and egocentric of the two... Only sport that Russo can truly riff on for hours on end is tennis... Both have been slipping lately, and on more than a few occasions, the callers have had to point out obvious mistakes.

They need each other; Francesa will be intolerable for 5 1/2 hours every day. How is he gonna do a sports TALK show when he himself has admitted that the callers are basically a necessary evil?

I hate both of them, but at least they are somewhat tolerable to listen to when they are together. When either does the show by themselves it is a pain to listen too.

Looks like the only sports talk I'll listen to is Kellerman and Kenny on ESPN. They were already hundreds of times better than M&MD.

This is AWFUL NEWS!!!!!! I literally grew up listening to the FAN (was 11 years old when it went on the air) and Mike and the Mad Dog. This is just an fn shock to the system. Depressing.

I have XM, so hopefully with the merger now through I can eventually get whatever Sirius station Mad Dog is on. Crap this sucks.

It's a sucky day. IMO, Mike and The Dog together or even by themselves is better than the crap we put up with on WIP.

P.S. No more Maquis De Sade for those Super Bowl tickets!!! ****!!! That was always good radio! Ugh!

The show has been crappy for a while. They're entertaining to listen to in the afternoon on a slow work day but besides that they're pretty brutal.

The highlight the last five years was the amazing guests they were able to get but actually listening to them to talk and debate things was comical sometimes. And nothing was worse than the slow summer shows when they'd randomly whip out the Baseball Encyclopedia and pick a player and go through his stats season-by-season to determine if he should be in the HOF.

I remember the time they were picking the song that should play in the background while mike read the George streinbrener quotes that was some classic radio
